And now we get to what the vast majority of anti-abortion rhetoric is really about. People having sex you don't approve of and wanting to make sure they suffer the consequences.

You make a lot of claims about what the bible says and provide very little scriptural support. I get the feeling you have never actually read much of the bible.

Quote "anti-abortion rhetoric"

Oops your attitude is showing and it aint Christlike.

Quote "p
eople having sex you don't approve of "....

I Cor. “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” 2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.
I Cor. To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single as I am. But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion

I Cor- If anyone is worried that he might not be acting honorably toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if his passions are too strong[b] and he feels he ought to marry...They should get married.

Just a few verses.I can add more if you wish. Not a matter of what I approve of.So take that up Him.

Wait, wait wait. If you have sex theres a 100% chance you could get pregnant. Those are the consequences. You go in knowing those are the consequences you could suffer. You took the risk, you take the consequences. If I start a fire in my neighbors barn theres a 100% chance it will burn to the ground. If they call the cops on me should I say "You just want me to suffer the consequences!!!" Come on,grow up and take responsibility for you own actions. Its part of being an adult.

Re-stating your position over and over again doesn't make it more true. If you believe it is even physically possible for an unborn fetus/embryo to flip inside the mother than you are not a reasonable person.

I know God can do anything he wants to do so yeah its reasonable to think the fore runner for Christ flipped in the womb!! Ive experienced far too many miracles in my life to fall back to my baby faith and lean on my own understanding. It seems you may need more faith! Oh ye of little faith...

Strange. I am against abortion but I consider myself moderately liberal. So Mitspa you're saying I'm not liberal? By who's definition? And what makes that definition valid? And why are so many "liberals" not conforming to that particular definition?

Why do you suppose you are moderately liberal? What do you adhere to that in your opinion is moderately liberal?

Right! Created the world and everything in it.Turned water into wine, healed the sick and made a donkey speak. But totally not believable that a baby would leap in the womb.

This is the position as stated in the bible. There is no room for conjecture.

Luke 1:41 - When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby jumped in her womb. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit

My father is an evangelist, I traveled in ministry 20 years so, yep never opened it.

In bible times men had concubines including Jacob and King David. They were certainly not married and God did not say anything about the matter with them. There are also numerous women in the bible who had worked as prostitutes and were not put to death.

Attacking me and my beliefs does not strengthen your position whatsoever. I did not say sex outside marriage was okay, I said this was really about punishing women. You seem to have a knack for responding to positions no one had...probably because it's easier.

Your father being an evangelist doesn't mean much to me, except he clearly neglected your studies because your spelling and grammar are as atrocious as your arguments. You may have noticed I have been correcting them for you. My mother was also an evangelical and she had degrees in both theology and bible history. Neither means much of anything in terms of what we know. i believe my statement was "you have not read MUCH of the bible".

I have found that a large majority of so called evangelical "Christians" tend to read the same two dozen verses over and over and neglect anything that doesn't directly pertain to either their salvation or disapproved sexual behaviour. In many studies evangelical Christians are shows to be the least biblically literate people and also the most misinformed as to what the bible actually teaches.

If you are going to knock her writing ability, make sure you don't include glaring mistakes like this one in your own post..... especially in the very post in which you blast her.

I never said I never made mistakes. I pointed out hers are rampant. Also is is possible that it was auto-corrected and slipped my notice. But thanks for combing my post to find the ONE grammar error.

On this particular forum, where a woefully insufficient amount of time is allotted for editing, every single one of us makes mistakes that may inadvertently get posted and become solidified before we spot them. This is the very last forum to jump on people for little oversights. I only did so in my comment to point out to you that, here especially, we are all living in glass houses.

However, it took hardly any "combing", at all. The error jumped up and waved its own big red flag.

Shammy Im not attacking your beliefs,Im not even sure what they are! You say sex outside marriage isnt "ok" then use the Bible to say maybe it is ok. You said abortion was about punishing women and when I respond to that you accuse me of responding to positions no one had.No one is attacking you,you are arguing with yourself!

Now secondly because you dislike what I said about sex before marriage,or abortion, which one I dont know you're going to attack me personally. I mentioned my father being an evangelist and being in ministry myself 20yrs when you said I never opened a Bible. But that also got you angry.Last time I checked this said singles forum not grammar forum. For some reason you dislike what Im saying so much you're picking at nothing.

Quote " My mother was also an evangelical and she had degrees in both theology and bible history."

Your mother was evangelical or an evangelist? They dont both mean the same thing. See? No fun when people pick on everything you say.

Quote " Neither means much of anything in terms of what we know."

The Bible says study to show yourself approved...or so I hear

Quote " i believe my statement was "you have not read MUCH of the bible".

You meant to capitalize that "i" at the beginning of the sentence Im sure.Or was that a run on sentence?

Quote "I have found that a large majority of so called evangelical "Christians" tend to read the same two dozen verses over and over ...

So you've done a study on this? Taken a poll? You've found a large majority of Christians...? I find it hard to believe in your 27yrs. you've seen or experienced enough to make such a judgment call. Just sayin...

Quote "disapproved sexual behaviour"

I'll let you make up your mind on that one. Whether you're for or against it. But there is a reason God/ Christians disapprove of sex before marriage. Because there are consequences, one of which may lead to abortion. But the Bible says,
so I hear, that if a person makes a mistake they can be forgiven. If a woman has an abortion, she can be forgiven. But it still doesnt make murder of a human being right.

Quote " In many studies evangelical Christians are shows to be the least biblically literate people and also the most misinformed as to what the bible actually teaches."

Id like to see these "many" unbiased studies. Oh and Im sure you meant "
Christians are shown to be the least biblically literate, not "shows". Its ok we'll help each out with grammar.

Finally Im not sure what you have against evangelical Christians but the Bible says,so Ive been told,we are to love one another as ourselves. You do not know the "majority" of evangelical Christians and for someone who talks of folks being judgmental you're pretty judgmental yourself. And your attitude sure isnt Christlike.I'll just boil it down to your age and hope you'll mature with age.

I check for spelling errors thats it. Im a busy wife and jot down what I can when I have time. It has nothing to do with errors in grammar, she has a beef with evangelical Christians. Shes a little miss know it all and shes 27yrs old. Must be great to be a kid and know everything right? smh
