Christian Ignore?

Inasmuch as I agree with your post, allow me to respectfully address the main convenience of the "ignore" feature is for one's continued participation in forums without being bothered by drama some peeps are consumed by.

The best way to get rid of drama is to not feed it, frankly. I enjoy reading threads just because I enjoy discovering what God is doing in the lives of others, but at times, certain topics get a little frisky even for my turtle...

you are exactly right.

i think more than one pages long & antagonistic thread is due to us not knowing the difference between "being zealous for the truth" and "stirring up divisions."

if you can't stop yourself from getting into the same arguments with someone here over and over, you probably really ought to preemptively "ignore" them.

(i'm trying really hard not to compare banana pies to cheesecakes, because we might fight, but i don't want to put you on "ignore" just yet!)

if you just put someone on "ignore" do they even know you've done so? is there any way for that person to reach you and ask to be forgiven? (i don't know, i've never 'ignored' anyone! lol)

this principle extends further, to kicking people out of the forum if need be, i think. (but i don't pretend to tell the mods what to do)

I'll be glad to clarify, Posthuman. First of all, if you put someone on ignore, they don't get any kind of notification. I actually don't generally put people on the official ignore list, but merely stop answering them. Kicking out of the forums is something that goes on, but since the mods don't want to be too harsh, they wait for the forum rules to be broken. Actually, this thread gives a great example.

There is someone on the forums who has been continually stirring up strife, and being rude and disorderly in other threads. He has shown up here, and has accused me of trying to start a witch hunt. I have already seen many of my brothers and sisters rebuke him, to no avail. The mods don't currently see fit to ban him, so I'll simply not bother responding to his ridiculous claims. But I'm not going to put him on the ignore list, in the hopes that he will repent, and we will 'gain a brother' , as it speaks of in Matthew. That's what I mean when I say it can be Christian to ignore people

Aw, thanks, BananaPie. I seem to feed them often - consciously but often subconsciously. Still, I'm going to train myself to not have to answer to every anti-Christian or false teaching thread/post. Or even the threads that are biblically-sound but just run around in circles and never find a conclusion.

I've found that I love this place the most when I stick to the prayer requests!

I should probably ignore those i disagree with rather than trying to get a rise out of them, but some of the things they post, just irk me. Guess its all in remembering to hit the X on that tab.

I actually had someone PM me just to let me know she was putting me on ignore. I couldn't help but laugh. I wouldn't have known the difference if she hadn't let me know. People are funny creatures.

I usually just ignore posts I don't like or stop reading certain threads, especially trollish threads/intentionally argumentative topics or people/or merry-go-round topics we've seen time and time again. There is no reason to permit yourself to be baited or bullied online. That's silly. Just click the little red X in the top right corner and whatever is upsetting you will disappear. Chat forums are not life and death, they are just....chat forums. *shrug*
