My roommate caught part of the kitchen on fire today. True story.

She has a bad habit of turning things on high on the stove and then walking off. She turned a TINY bit of oil in a pan on high and then went to play on her phone. From the other end of the house I smelled something burning and looked over JUST in time to see the whole pan and wall go up in flames. I ran over and smothered it before she even knew what was going on. -_-

P.S. Smashed grilled cheese with tomato soup is like....oh man.....SO good!

I read that as turning thighs on high... so I reread it. Yeah, no one psychoanalyze that, okay?

Annnnnnd my glasses go back on.

How has this post gone unmentioned?? 0_0

Glad to hear no one got hurt! That sounds like a close call.

PS - I agree that grilled cheese in nearly any form, with tomato soup is definitely SO good. :p

The post went unmentioned because we're used to Cat's pyrotechnically inclined friends. This is SO old hat to us! ;)

Praise God that you were made aware so quickly, and reacted thusly. And praise to Him that no one was hurt.

It's too bad you can't have one of my "accident" grilled cheeses then, because then I could just say "Oh! I did that on purpose...yeah. On purpose."

I would totally be willing to be human-garbage-disposal were that the case.

I love sharp cheddar. The sharper, the better. Have you ever read the description for the plastic cheese stuff? It says "cheese product". It doesn't even sound like it's cheese. Because it hardly is.

I know I'm in the minority, but there are some things that I prefer with process cheese. I like real cheese too (most of my sandwiches get made with Sargento slices), but process cheese does have its place. ^_^

Pepperoni cheese (bits of pepperoni mixed in with colby cheese), and smoked bacon sharp cheddar cheese.

I've had a smoked bacon cheddar. Wonderful stuff. I'm a big fan of smoked cheeses in general. Smoked swiss and smoked gouda are pretty much unbeatable...even the strongest, tangiest bleu cheese (yum!) can't compare to a deeply smoked gouda!

I love to slice French bread, lay a slice of cheddar on it and put it under the broiler until the cheese is kinda crusty Even better topped with jalapenos

Toaster oven pizza is the best! I make it with low-carb pita rounds. Sometimes sauceless (like Red does), sometimes with some tomato sauce, sometimes with BBQ sauce, and then whatever meat and cheese I can throw on there. Good stuff. Very customizable.

I'm back! Did anybody miss me? (It's ok to lie and say yes) I have a million pictures to post on fb from my mission trip. Can't wait to be home tomorrow!!

Welcome back! Did you bring Edward souveniers???

My dear friend, don't pan grill them. Put them in a toaster oven. It has a timer and it will give the sandwich a different flavor.

Remember, we LIKE the black crusty stuff. A toasted cheese sandwich is not the same as a grilled cheese sandwich. They are both fine sandwiches, but when I want a grilled cheese, I want it buttery and black and smooshed!

(Coffee works, grilled cheese does not:
"I like my women like I like my grilled cheese...buttery, dark, and smooshed!"
"Uh...what?"

"I like my women like I like my coffee...strong, sweet, and hot!
"I see."
"And with a spoon."
"Wait, what?")

We used to have a toaster oven. However, that was one of the items I have caught on fire, and my husband, in a fit of gallantry (trying to stop me burning the house down, more like) told me not to worry about trying to pack up the toaster oven when we moved, that we'd just get a new one. We did not get a new one.

I actually prefer my grilled cheese sandwiches with the plastic cheese. Sometimes I like to use mixes, like a slice of Swiss and a slice of Muenster, but in a pinch, the plastic cheese works. So, you're right, it does have its place!

I don't mean to be picky on grilled cheese, I will eat it no matter what, but sometimes my mom makes it and it seems that all she did was melt the butter. I cook mine until it's cooked perfectly golden brown on each side. Unless it's the times where I just burn it.

There's a pizza place around here that makes macaroni and cheese pizza. It is delicious. I was actually craving it for about a week. I love mac and cheese. I've had awesome "grown up" versions with toasted bread crumbs, bacon, and goat cheese.

Speaking of not talking about food, it's about time I fired up the frying pan and got working on that thick cut bacon I defrosted... *smirk*

I'm terrified of cooking any foods that can fight back as they're being cooked. Bacon is one of those foods.

On another note, anyone ever play Settlers of Catan? Some friends and I got together and played an 8 player game last night (O_O) with two girls on one team and a guy who used double pieces so that he could tell his colors apart from everyone else's. We used two boards and it was craaaazy! So much fun though! Ignore my less than amused face.....>_>

Now I really want bacon.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Herder, that is EXACTLY the first thing I thought when I read it as well. I just didn't want to say it (type it?) out loud since everyone here probably thinks I hit on Red too much as it is. ^_^

Bake it or microwave it! No grease pops that way! I actually think oven-baked bacon is preferable to pan-fried. Another great way - waffle iron, if you've got one of the big square ones. (The little round ones work, too, but you can only do a couple slices at a time.)

My dad woke up earlier than usual this morning. I woke up to him barging into my room and loudly proclaiming, "wake up! It's a glorious day! We have bacon!"

What's with people and bacon? It's good and all, but why the love affair. Actually, why do MEN have the love affair with bacon. I don't understand.

Okay, um... that was weird. I guess if the wedding is free, then it might be worth it. They should have had a pig as a ring bearer. :p
