Does anyone else feel guilty after prepairing a meal for two [because it's easier than 1] to sit and eat alone, like were being selfish or something? And rather than enjoying together with some one, just wrap up the leftovers for lunch another time?
No, you shouldn’t feel guilty! I just see it as extra food for another meal, as long as I am not throwing it away; no harm done. It is not my fault, I am not married. It would be different if I was cooking for one and I was married...then, I should feel guilty if I wasn’t feeding the husband.
I can eat at a fastfood restaurant alone, but not at one that you get waited on for every part of a meal. I feel self conscious eating at those places by myself...

It's not the eating, it's the work prepairing that seems so selfish.
Doing something for yourself, should not feel selfish! Especially, when you are doing something that is essential to life...preparing the food you will nourish your body with.

I am the same way cooking for one...I just try to figure out what I can cook only getting one or two items dirty. I have learned how to make scrambled eggs in the paper plates in the microwave, zero dishes! Cooking is not my passion, but I love to eat it. I’d rather sign up for kitchen cleaning duties any day!

Good theres only 6 of us and I'll guarantee to get 3 pots or pans a couple large serving /mixing spoons/spatulas, [rubbermaid] plus stone, silver and glass wear [plastic]dirty. I'll do the cooking, warning; I make a mess!:p:LOL::LOL::LOL:

What I wrote 5 days ago is how I felt 5 days ago. I almost forgot about by now. My grandson was inducted into the Navy the day before I wrote it and I was missing him a little and rembering how I felt when my parents died 6 weeks apart. That sudden great pain and loneliness came back to haunt me a little. It was temporary. Besides I only cook brunch 6 days a week but only once for the family. When I cook for myself it's the easist, fastest, cleanest and cheapest that I can throw on a bun or in tortilla with 3 scoops of vannila ice cream in a cup of black silk or french roast.:coffee::D:cool:

I am tasked with all the dishwashing duties. Even though we have a dishwasher it is still a lot of work due to rinsing, placing items on the racks and putting away the clean dishes. I appreciate that you try to limit the number of items used in the cooking process. When my wife bakes there are all kinds of various pots and pans and utensils to wash. Good cookies though but currently I'm trending towards brownies.

Fast foodies know the deal. At least that's what they say on TV. When I was single most of what I ate came out of the freezer. I would just reach in and pull out the first thing that I touched and stick it in the microwave. Very hard to cook for just yourself. Once every other week I would make tuna fish sandwiches and at least one breakfast. Otherwise microwave or eating out of a can. Gets old after awhile. I basically just ate to survive. Ate a lot of junk food too. Still like to do that. It's all the same to me.
