I have zero clues on how to flirt, or tell if I am being flirted with. Can some one help me.
Hey Brother, here are a few simple rules to flirting:

Know your target audience: Don't flirt with a biker chick who just argued with someone.
Be confident but not cocky: Worthwhile women like confident guys not cocky ones.
Say or do something that promotes a positive response. Making yourself the butt of a joke is cool.
And most importantly, always, always, always be respectful.

flirting is just flattery with a hint of sexual attraction.
If I wasn't twice your age there'd be more than just a hint. :p

Brother Batman, that right there is me flirting with Abigail. I complimented her by agreeing with her post yet I took it a little further in an innocent, respectful manner.

It's innocent because she and I both know I'm old enough to be her father, and she knows I'm being respectful because of the smiley face at the end of the post.

Now, with that, I won't flirt with her again for quite a while otherwise I would be crossing the line and she'd fall in love with me. Oh snap! I just flirted with her again.

well I mean when you first meet someone you don't really know them. So I guess I'm a bit more happy go lucky and once they get to know me I'm not as wonderful as they thought? Who knows haha
ithink it's safe to stay away just in case
Batman, meet Erin. :)

Based on the dictionary definition of the word flirt[ing] It is not something I have done, or intend to do. I certainly hope that girls would never flirt with me.

It used to be that I would never noticed when a girl was flirting with me, under the connotation or denotation, it would be hours later I'd realize what happened in the interaction. From experience, I can sometimes tell, I'm not as clueless as I once was.

If you go by the connotation, the meaning is a bit different; flirting isn't limited to amusement and lack of serious intentions, that is a little different.
I will say that for myself, If I've ever done anything that could be considered similar to flirting, there was most certainly serious intentions behind my actions. Playing around with someone's feelings isn't right. My advice is to be certain of your intent, not lead anyone on, be honest, and appropriate. Your interactions are the building blocks of a relationship.. Make sure you are using good blocks.

A friend of mine: "When I end up with someone, it won't be because of my flirting skills. It will be because I seduced them with my awkwardness."

Flirting is very risky for guys.
You know what...I'm not sure it's any riskier for men than women. Here's why I say this...I've recently had the opportunity to spend more time with my second-to-youngest brother. He is a consummate flirt.

He's the kind of guy who genuinely likes women...and he knows how to talk to them. And he's an average guy. Medium attractive. But let me tell you, this guy can pretty much get any woman he wants.

We've been out a couple of times lately and BOTH times ended up with our waitresses sitting down at our table to talk with us for a bit...and it was because of him. Part of what works for him is that he's completely fearless about being a little flirty. I'm an introvert and there were times when I was cringing a little and inwardly facepalming thinking, "Did you just say/ask that?" But it WORKED. Here's what WORKED about it for my brother: He flirted without any significant expectation. I've seen him flirt with women who just brush him off...no worries. Others responded to it...so he continued. He enjoyed the positive response, but he wasn't hanging he's ego on it. He's more like "win some, lose some."

I think a guy IS more likely to get the offended vibe if he's hanging his ego on the response. I think women can sense that and it feels like pressure...or manipulation. But if it's just all in fun, then people will more freely respond because they sense that there's no expectation. Maybe THAT is the trick of men flirting...Do it to show her appreciation and interest, without any expectation (except possibly her pleasure in the exchange).

I most certainly have.

I've been flirting with a really cool chick from North Carolina. How cool is she? I'm a Duke fan and she's an UNC fan, but I'm literally changing teams for her. Go Blue! :p

Oh yeah, and she's really cute also.

I am going to have to agree with BA here. You have to be you while flirting, not changing who you are for any one. Is this where I say I am a DUKE and MICHIGAN fan??? I have my shirts to prove it!!!

Ah yes Utah, the method of silent subversion, get her all thinking you're a UNC fan and then buy her a Duke shirt as a gift....she can't say no to a gift right?????? Very tactical I must say Utah! Bravo! (Standing O from me to Utah for this plan).

Tactical -- Ha ha. :D

No brother, I wouldn't buy her a Duke shirt, I'll buy her a Utah shirt. (University of Utah).

A beautiful woman wearing a shirt with my name on it? Man, Life is Good!
