Flirting is fine when both parties are single.

When i see someone who has a boyfriend do it it drives me insane!

Well, I promised a longer response over a month ago, I guess I better get to it then. :p

I voted for all except the bottom three, and I will explain my reasoning to each one.
--------------------------------------------
Flirting is silly - If it has no purpose behind it, I think it's a bit silly, or if it's silly pickup lines

Flirting can be dangerous - If you have a partner (bf/gf, fiance, husband/wife) and you're flirting with other people, that can be very dangerous, for obvious reasons

Flirting can be distracting - It can be distracting for those involved and for others around you. If you're in a Bible study, flirt afterwards or somewhere else and let the focus be on studying God's word.

Flirting can be overdone - Some people just don't know when to stop, and it can get annoying

Flirting is fun and can be beneficial - It can be fun, especially if you both like each other. It can send signals that you're interested, which can be beneficial

Someone who flirts can be faithful to one person - You can flirt within a committed relationship with the other person. Or, someone who was a flirt before can then direct all their attention to the other person

Someone who flirts may have trouble being faithful to one person - Despite my answer above, I also believe this can be true as well. If someone is flirty with everyone, then that makes me question their motives behind flirting. Is it for their ego? For attention? Will they be able to not be flirty with other people while in a relationship with someone else?
-------------------------------------------------
To sum it up, it depends on each person's individual situation and motivation (are they in a relationship? Are they trying to send a signal or just wanting positive feedback to feed their ego?)

As for the last three, it depends on someone's motivation on whether or not I want to be flirted with. I'm pretty bad at being able to tell if someone's flirting with me, though. It hasn't happened enough and I really only can tell if it's super obvious. I don't know if I know how to flirt. I think so? That's probably a sign that I don't. Ha.

I'm the same way and apparently I don't realize that I flirt, a friend will tell me afterwards that I was flirting and I'm like, when did that happen? I guess being friendly means flirting or something. It's very strange. lol
To address this, I recently read a quote that was something like "What kind of sad world do we live in when politeness is regarded as being flirted with?" Sometimes people can misread things, but what's sad is that our world can sometimes be so cut-throat and uncaring that when someone DOES care, we think it means something more.

I feel like I just wrote a book with this post, it seems long. And it's funny that I wrote such a long post on something I don't know much about.

What do I think? Err on the side of caution, and discretion is the better part of valor.

I'm not a huge fan of women who flirt with everyone, having a relationship with them is a lot like being another face in the crowd. Nothing is special and no one is sacred. If I'm in a relationship, I like to develop a code or a secret language, so that I can flirt and no one can tell.

I don't have a real clear picture as to what we are calling flirting. In my experience its next to impossible to flirt online, I always get misread or misunderstood, so I tend not to bother. The exception I suppose would be saying the obvious, like what we all did in the show some love thread. If that qualifies as flirting then I suppose I'm a bit of a flirt. (Sorry Zero)

In person I tend to flirt with women by making fun of them and arguing with them, not even really trying to win. Or pushing them into some bushes or the ocean. I like spontaneously putting them on my shoulders. Or if we're running, 'finding the puddle' but, I suppose thats more of a relationship type flirting.
I agree about how flirting can be misunderstood. I have thought guys liked me when they didn't and then had guys like me and flirt with me and it's like I totally missed it! I think flirting can be fun, and a way to see how someone reacts to me before telling them how I feel, but it can be pretty messy. Some people turn flirting into mind games and that only hurts people.

I will flirt with someone else that's single, even if i don't expect anything out of it. I don't really flirt with people i have no attraction to, so on the extremely unlikely chance the flirting lead to anything, it would not be horrible exactly haha.
I don't flirt a whole lot, though. Just for fun sometimes. Though since usually the women don't flirt back, and tend to disappear til they think its safe and i stop, i'm kind of losing the fun of it. (hmm, last part of that sentence doesn't seem worded right, oh well, you get the point =P )

I am new to the CC forums. What is flirting? Can someone show me how it's done? *giggle*

My bad, I remember I was misinterpreted in uni as being a bit of a flirt. But I didn't do anything questionable. Just listened carefully to girls who ranted about everything and treated them all with respect.

I think flirting will make more sense after I have made up my mind on a girl i would like to see as my partner. Else, i avoid it both ways. So far so good, I am still searching...:D

I don't bother with flirting anymore. Besides, I don't think I've ever had much luck with it anyhow.
I'm just happy if people wanna sit & chat. As long as no one is fleeing in terror like I'm freakin' Quasimodo!

I think you should look up the word flirting in the bible...
and then do exactly as the bible says.
: )

For me flirting conjures images of insincerity and leading somebody one, demonstrating your power over the opposite sex. I agree that giving modest encouragement to somebody you genuinely like is fine but I am not sure this meets the definition of flirting.
