Well let's see, what do you call it when you are offered as a girlfriend in name only to your Dad's co-worker right before you leave the country? True story, guy kind of needed a fake gf to keep an eager woman who didn't want to take not interested for an answer at bay. Story ends that while I was overseas he dumped me (or maybe he cheated on me, at that point there had been no direct communication between us ever) for his (now ex-) wife.

And then there's the situation of the close guy friend who everyone thinks your dating even though you're both pretty clear that you aren't; you're just the best hang out buddies each other can find. But everyone knows what to call that.... complicated.

And while I've had my share of imaginary friends, I never tried to convince people that they were real people. It's just that the people in books tend to be better people than the people in real life.

Awhile back when I put my picture up on this site, someone sent me a message and said prior, they thought I was a made up character on this site. I guess that tells me that if I was fake, I could have found a better looking pic.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has been suspected of being a fake person. Back in my chat room days somebody asked if I was real or computer generated, because "you're a guy and you like veggies and you bake bread and don't like fast food, and that's not normal for a guy."

(I know I have mentioned this on the forum before, but the situation fit it.)

No I don't think anyone in my circle has pretended to have a boyfriend/girlfriend. I do know a few friends who kept their romantic pairings secret for various reasons at that time.

Uh...why did this thread pop up right now? Makes me really uncomfortable...I was about to marry rich...stinkin' ridicolously rich, I had pictures too, but the dog ate them...I think I have to call the whole thing off...

LOL
