I really respect the Quakers and their guts to live differently. But when I witness to them, they seem to do those things for all the wrong reasons. I have to ask myself, what God thinks on all of that. The same thing goes for Apostolic Pentecostals and Mennonites.

It seems all that effort on holiness and different living accomplishes nothing. That is if they have not the truth of God's word. Many of them have the same errors of the Catholics. I believe those that gave up their worldly desires for a false doctrine is what all the weeping and gnashing of teeth is about (see Matt. 8:12).

Happy Sabbath right back at ya kinda and Lafftur. I went to my local SDA church for services this morning. As per usual they tried to proselytize me. Will they ever learn? It was nice to fellowship though.
I felt the same way when I attended SDA services with my wife. I hope to do so again when I get my work schedule changed so that I get Saturday's off. Very nice fellowship but don't care much for the food served at after service pot lucks. Most peeps there don't eat any type of meat at all besides pork. Food doesn't have much texture and I really don't even know what it is that I'm eating.

Of course, most don't believe that it is a sin to eat pork or even other types of meat but they take it seriously about our bodies being the temple of the Lord. Maybe I should too and eliminate my nicotine addiction.

On the plus side I did score 3 lbs of bacon this morning at the local Publix. It was buy two get one free. Right now I'm trending towards pork chops. If I can't smoke anymore at least I'm gonna eat stuff I enjoy.

I dont know that many quakers so might have to ask them next time. Do I just say so...just why are you taking acting on stopping child poverty? And why were the quakers of old against slavery...couldnt it just have continued? Why did quakers start free public schools. Maybe everyone ought to pay if they want an education. Hmmm

I went to a quakers meeting and we sat together in silence. It was kinda nice. But I was thinking it would be even nicer if we had couches. We had wooden chairs and padded chairs all spaced around facing a low coffee table with a Bible on it. It was a bit different.

I dont really mind just sitting on the floor on cushions really.
Did anyone open the Bible on the low coffee table and read it....

I used to attend a Friends church in Long Beach. There are different divisions within the Friends/Quakers and some do share the word during service. Although they tend to avoid traditional ceremonies like baptism and communion the one I attended would share some biblical text aloud followed by a community meal which seems a lot closer to the original communion, to me, than crackers and grape juice.

Their attitude regarding baptism is that once we are saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit, water baptism is unnecessary. We sat in pews and there were study groups and other types of social activities as well.

I really like the lack of i.e.. statues, crosses, or robes and nobody dressed to impress even the leader dressed casually.(y)

Good point, Deade. It really comes down to our hearts............. why do I do what I do?

I just want to love God with all my heart, mind, body, soul and strength. Every one else and every good work will have to take a back seat, I'm busy sitting at the feet of Yeshua/Jesus. I'm only moving if He says to get up and do something or say something.(y)
