I have struggled with my sleep. I recently had a sleep study done at the sleep center. My oxygen levels are not great, but according to the test does not fit the qualifications as apnea. Usually, I sleep on my right side for about half the night and switch sides for the other half. I never take up the whole bed, unless I am not feeling well. Although that could be partly due to the fact that my cat likes to sleep on the other side of the bed.
Hate to mention this, but have you checked to see if you are allergic to cats? No, seriously.......if your cat always sleeps with you, that is a real possibility for explaining your sleep problems...........

He doesn't always sleep with me. I am not allergic to my cats they have already checked that possibility out. Thanks for the concern, I really appreciate it. Actually the sleep doctor was asking me if I drank alcohol and I told him that I have never tried it and he kept bringing that subject up. I don't think that is an option because I don't want to rely on alcohol for anything even though I don't have anything against alcohol itself. The doctor just told me to keep an eye out on it for the future.

I have a long bed (not sure what size, but it's not a king or queen) and sleep on a chiropractic pillow that probably should've been replaced a long time ago. I sleep vertically and generally on my right side, facing the wall (so I can be ambushed more easily and don't have any chance to defend myself). But I turn from my right onto my left side and then back onto my right (still at the vertical) as I try to make myself comfortable in preparing for the Sand Man to arrive. This can go on for some time, but not too long. I used to sleep like a baby, not since early high school days though (which is weird, because they were some of my worst years of being bullied). If I'm reading in bed, which happens most of the time, I'll either lie on my back with the book above me (not recommended if you're reading the Bible or LotR or something - I've brained myself more than once). Or I sit up in bed and just read for awhile. But mostly I roll onto my stomach and read in that position.

You want to know...how we sleep? Literally? :p

I try to fall asleep on my back, with no pillow. It's supposedly better for the spine and neck. I often end up shifting and falling asleep on my side, or at least I often wake up that way. Least often do I fall asleep/wake up on my stomach. I also set two alarms; one that goes off two minutes before the other. Supposedly, being woken up suddenly while in "deep sleep" can be detrimental, and I've noticed that in having one alarm ease me into the other I don't wake up as groggy anymore.

True story.

I don't know which chiropractor told that it's better for your spine and neck to sleep on your back, but it is better without the pillow. That said, the best position is apparently sleeping on your side, with on leg curled up at an angle and the other out straight (I just can't remember if it's the leg that rests on the mattress or the one that doesn't. I may be over-thinking this.

I fall asleep like this with my wife next to me but eventually I wake up and roll over (or go to the other room if I'm snoring to loudly).

Before I had weight loss surgery I had to have a sleep study done, I had 2, and they found I have mild sleep apnea. So now I have this expensive CPAP Machine that I don't use much anymore. I can't stand it. It fit's over my nose. After my surgery I forgot about it. cpap.jpg

It looks like that, it makes my husband giggle. I probably should use it but I hate it, so I don't.

I sleep on my right side at night with two pillows under my head. I turn my fan on so it blows directly on my face, because when I lay down I can't breathe good. Some nights I can fall asleep just fine, other nights I have to take a sleeping pill. I've used a nature sound machine to go to sleep by. That works pretty good. :)

On a queen bed before married all over it after married on the right side of the bed and on my left side. I have sleep apnea and sleep with a mask on looking like the creature from the black lagoon....or some space alien. Illuminati approved of course....I digress.... I fall asleep pretty fast seems like the minute my head hits the pillow most times. My problem is that after 4 hours or so I wake up and wide awake. Reason for posts at all hours. However, since being married I believe husband must be praying for my sleeping problems as have been staying in bed until around 4 to 5 AM which is much better.

I still have an occasional 3 AM prowling session and end up posting on CC most times... Like p rehbein have trouble sleeping but I attribute it to old age issues....I know lots of ladies over 50 that have issues sleeping....but I refuse to pop a pill and don't want to get pill dependent so since I don't work anymore if I have to nap in the day will do so, but not often....

I have a queen size bed. I sleep on my side... either side. I usually sleep on the right side of the bed... but I've become very versatile since my Husky likes to sleep with me and somehow even though she's rather small.. she finds ways to take up almost the entire bed. I used to set 3 alarms 5 minutes apart.... when I had to get up super early (because I would sleep through them)... Now that I work a 2nd shift schedule.. I set an alarm... but I don't really even need it.. It's nice. ;)

I was equally impressed and terrified when he mentioned this superpower of his.
