I mainly use it for news updates, whether it be sports, pop culture ect... I use it for facebook groups where I can interact with people who have the same interests as me in that specific group.

l gave up FB right around the time l joined CC.
It's a good thing, it felt weird collecting 'likes' just from dropping oddball posts here and there.

yeah...yup...l'm so happy that l don't do that anymore.
l'm proud of myself.

Wait a minute...?

To me Facebook was the first experience of social media and I have learned to control myself through the years on how I use it. I am happy now I am as naive as I was when I started using it in my college days, I can go days without it and sometimes even deactivate it for a while.

I have made great friends and learned a lot of things through FB. Facebook helped me to contact with my host when I was coming to Finland as it was my first time travelling out of my country. I have developed meaningful networks as well through Facebook.

Now i mostly go online and read through my notifications and log out. I don't even have the app on my phone so it doesn't bother me anymore.

With all these social media these days, I feel much safer not being on other media like Instagram, Snapchat and so on. It feels so confusing these days, glad I am out of that and I am Ok without it.:)

* corrections

not as naive as I was back then when I started using FB;)

I don't take facebook seriously, i was actually thinking about making a joke account, posting my pic as a cow and just posting "moo" on random peoples posts ... especially those ones who post selfies all the time... wonder what kind of reactions i would get..

I have a facebook account, but I barely use it. And I literally never post anything : p

I dont like looking through posts from my friends on that site either, actually. Its always either extremely politically driven, like the "if you disagree with me you are a racist and should remove yourself from my friendslist" kinda junk, or just lewd and perverted jokes that I dont care to see.

I mostly use fb to keep up with news on like musicians I like or cartoonists or whatever, I guess. And I have one friend on there I talk to occasionally about bass guitar, which can be fun sometimes : p But other than that I use it like 1-2 times a week and I dont do much, so I wouldnt even care if the site shut down : p

Facebook was really cool once.

In 2004.

When it was restricted to college students with a valid .edu email address...

...and it hadn't yet become a real company...

...and it wasn't mainstream, pandering to the least common denominator of the public.

I chuckled out loud at this.

Unfortunately... I guess we're getting to the age where sayings like "That was cool once... In 1983..." seem to apply to a LOT of things now days.

probably around 2000 if i accept all the requests.. its funny because i knew a narcissist guy who always said that i was a nobody because i didn't have many people added on social media.. after doing a little bit of research i found out that he was actually using 3rd party sites to like all of his posts and that he was paying a site to get him friends. Facebook is full of people who do that he did. not everything is what it seems online.. there are some hollow people out there.

Facebook is very important to those who run Facebook. They spend hours and hours sorting little issues out. It is enjoyed by many worldwide. I'm not on it myself but many are.
