well

she found someone on the staff for me to train hands on so the library would keep ticking over and not be left in a total mess.

That is what I asked for anyway if they couldnt keep me on for next year. I just didnt want anyone be put in the position of having my job dumped on them when they already have so much else to do. Then not knowing or having a clue how to do it.

Hopefully have done the right thing as its very difficult atm. plus nearing end of year.
Why were you let go?

She blasted the new boss.

My boss is retiring at the end of the year, the new upcoming boss is just throwing her weight around lol

I decided to take a leaf out of her book and just say I was not keen on some of her new ideas for the library which she does not work in everyday. she was a bit non plussed that I dared to tell her off lol.

Some people dont like it when you talk to them as an equal!
Just remember: the squeaky wheel may get the grease, but it's also the first one to be changed out as soon as you can afford it.
I warned her this might happen. When you blast the new boss, the new boss might not like you so much.

the teachers are going to be swamped next year :-(

Maybe its best to be out of it

The new principal seems like she'll be a worse tyrant judging by the way shes going about things at the moment.

New boss might have decided not to take it personally but instead chose to look at it as a person volunteering for being the subject of budget cuts.

Libraries are almost a thing of the past. With search engines and the internet.

Information is not being categorized and collected in the same manner as before. And we are getting dumber as a result.

A formula is the quick answer...but it's not as important as to understanding why the formula works.

libraries are not a 'thing of the past' for children they are extremely relevant places for stories to be told and books to be enjoyed, to learn how to read, and be responsible for caring for books and each other, depends on how you see it.

if you think they just old info repostitories think again. There is so much more to a library than that. Also library caalogues ARE search engines and have been online for decades. They collect relevant studies and info without all the junk and commercial and scammers stuff thats on other random search engnes. Libarian navigate this world and do a lot of behind the scenes work that people dont even see.

There are huge consortia that contain most of the histories of people...you can find anything in a library if you know where to look

high school librarians often teach how to discern between fake news and real..just as we mark what is fiction from non fiction

no person volunteers to be the subject of budget cuts. if they think that they have another think coming.

the boss can cut his or her own pay instead, thats what a good boss would do. oftrn they are paid over and above what everyone else needs to live on. But no I guess it never occured to them. Its like how govt said oh we will take a 20 percent pay cut so we can keep our essential, workers who are paid the barest minimum. Then it turns out that was an empty promise.

Thats unfortunate. I dont know any boss that likes to be undermined. Maybe it would have been better to go with her ideas and then in term 2 say you tried it and it didnt work?
Had 2 of my colleagues undermine our superior in assembly today and it was not a good look. Some would say it unprofessional. In fact there is a lot of in house fighting in schools and the students pick up on it.

shes tough she can handle it since deputy was busy undermining all her staff anyway. so what goes around comes around she'll soon find it wont work but making a super expensive mistake with public money is just foolish. someone has got to tell her like it is even if she dont like to hear it.

besides its not undermining if you just telling the truth. But wouldnt do it in an assembly lol. humiliating people is not my style, just saying mmm really dont think it will work and how bout we try this instead.

Are you wanting to find employment at another library, or are planning on going into a different field?

am planning on going relieving, so other schools can have a librarian for the day when their librarian is away, sick or whatever

I let her have it because Im usually the quietest person in the room and never say anythng, she wasnt used to me being outspoken or reading my thoughts on the matter

But, well, too late they should never have kept me in the dark about what they were going to do.

That's the spirit! "I'm getting fired for berating the new boss, but I'm doggone sure gonna let them know what I think before I leave." That's the best way to win friends and influence people.

one of the values of our school is 'happy' along with other h words...healthy, high achieving and harmonious

so if the Principal wasnt happy then nobody is happy.. Its like the old saying if Mama aint happy nobody is happy

Her bad mood had the potential to affect everyone in the entire school. Its good to identify emotions though, whether they are positive or negative. I wondered if she was relieved to finish up this year. While being a Pollyanna seems to work for some people, hiding from reality isnt always the solution.

See....
Why you need a librarian is because I could never figure out the card catalog system.

When I went to look for a book "The Bouncing Ball" it sometimes was under the "T's" and sometimes under the "B's" with no ryme or reason at all.

The librarian usually knew why but she wasn't telling.
