I look at being single as time for me. I have had my heart broken, sometimes I think it may never heal, but that is all in God's time. If it is his will that I stay single, then that's God's decision to make. If He placed "the one" if front of me tomorrow, more than likely I might run. He knows that. He knows when I will be ready. He knows.

One thing I have learnt from my married friends is that if there any nice toys you think you might like, get them BEFORE you are married. Once you get married and have kids it will be a LOT harder for you to get that new Porsche, speed-boat, jet ski, Harley etc..
Your wife expect you to put that $700 towards paying off the mortgage, not blow it on a whim on fancy new pocket-knife.
I hear them moan and whine about how they wish they had this toy, or that toy but their wife won't let them buy it.

Okay maybe this is a little different thinking but I don't believe God has "the one" for us. I mean he doesn't even make us be with Him, why in the world would he make us be with someone else?! There are very few examples in the Bible of God telling a person to marry a certain other person, and in one of them, the guy ends up with both the girl God chose and her sister! Do you believe the two for one deal was God's idea too?

God loves each of us the very same. In fact, that's why nobody will be married in heaven; we will not be able to love one person more than another. How can God then choose one person for you over another, and vice versa. Paul says that if you can't stay pure then you should just marry, that doesn't sound like finding "the one"!

I'm just saying that God gives us freedom over every part of our lives, including who we choose to marry...I mean if your 'rents can figure out that you don't want their input on your boyfriend or girlfriend, don't you think God can too?!!

I love the freedom I've gained through the Lord, I love how He lets us trust ourselves. ...and btw, I'm single too :p

Stay strong to all of those who are single & let God's love fill each & everyone of you. Let that empty void be filled to the fullest.

well you all are lucky......I've been single my entire life, so really I should be used to it by now and not mind it so much. But it seems like the older I get, the harder it is, especially considering that I really want to have kids and there's only so many years that women can have babies before all of the risks and complications go up. I know God is in control and that if it's His will for me to ever get married, it will happen, but I feel like it's hopeless for me to even meet anybody. I kind of feel like if I get married at all, it won't be until I'm a lot older, and it's just discouraging to think about spending the next 20 or 30 (or more) years all alone.
this was so sad to read! Singleness shouldn't be something to "get used to"! It's the most ANNOYING but exciting time in life!! It's the moments where you have NO idea what God is gunna put in your path! There's no do's n don't's to having God bring Mr.Right to your door! It just happens in His timing, and unfortunately, that is that. BUT! luckly, there are things you can do! Best way to meet ppl? I've met tons of guys through friends! n hey, you go on a date or 2, see if it'll work, in my case I kick 'em to the curb lol but until the moment comes for you to meet the right guy, enjoy all this free time to live out all your dreams, to explore the world, and life in general! join a class youve always wanted to try! there's the gym - friends - goin out - retreats - small groups - friends' friends - people your parent's know (my moms still trying..)! There was this one book i read that gave me a lot of encouragement - called How To Get A Date Worth Keeping by Dr. henry cloud! I'm tellin ya, it's good :) hope all you singles out there are enjoying life like never before! I believe that's how God intended it!

I've learned so much about myself by being single. It's amazing the things that God has taught me and is still teaching me. I'm a newbie on here, but I just wanted to chime in. For a few years when i was younger it seems I spent all my time asking God, "Is it him lord?" about every single guy I met... I lost so much time doing that! Now I have a career that I love, a group of family and friends that I enjoy spending time with, and I am content.

I think that is the key above all else.. The Apostle Paul said, I have learned in whatever state I am to be content (paraphrase by me). Does that mean I don't ever want to get married? No way. Does that mean I don't want to have children? Of course not. I still want those things. And if God sees fit to bless me with them then all praise to Him. But if He doesn't will I give up on life and curl into a fetal position and rock back and forth???

maybe... Just kidding! Seriously, it's all about God's timing and His plan for me. That's what I want.
