Well yes you are being paranoid. But the fact that you feel people are talking about you is not one of the indicators that you are paranoid. ;)

I realize that a preference of purple skin wouldn't be the problem at all (if there is a problem), but rather talking about it so much. But maybe it's just normal human preferences and appreciation of different traits etc.

"I suppose that would depend on how the person felt about their own characteristic-being-lauded ( i.e., purple skin )..."

I have 'red' hair -- which - 99.99% of the time, it seems - is against me where "women find me attractive" is concerned. ( Every one seems to be attracted to blondes and brunettes -- not so much to 'red heads'. ) I just might be "tickled pink and purple" if a woman expressed how much she was drawn to 'red heads'. :D

Of course - then I would be "in the running" for those who like "pink and purple" skin... ;) :cool:

I would think that it depends on the particular trait, and the person's self-image with regard to that trait...

Well, if you liked purple skin and I was someone who had purple skin (and I was single), I would say "Pick me!"

I don't think it is wrong per se to have a preference when you want to fall in love with someone. But if you obsess over it, then that is a problem. :)

I'm one of those weirdo women who like red hair. I have never dated nor married a red head, but I do like red hair. (Does that make me super creepy?)

I also find men with blond, brunette and bald heads attractive....

It's funny how we all have something about us that we think leaves us out of the running with the opposite gender... but there are always exceptions out there.

My high school boyfriend was a redhead too. Not because of a particular preference, but because I liked his personality.

LOL!! Just make sure it's like a dusky lavender-ish purple with a tinge of plum. I'm not attracted to grape.
