I also do an out of this world fresh fruit sherry trifle with
chantilly cream topping.

Sorry just can’t find a picture which does that justice but Imagine the
most scrumptious sherry fruit peach trifle ever, topped with pure creamy, lemony,
sweet dreamy topping......... bliss

Can I date Miri? That pavlova can make me go to England just for the taste of it. I am bringing the Darjeeling.

Possibly. I just make sure I drop to Boots and also, if they have it at the terminal, a Fortnum and Mason and I am good. The flight only takes 2 hours. And they sell F&M tea at the tax free anyway.

I have been thinking about going on a day trip or possibly an overnight trip to England before school starts....

I have my pantry, freezer, cupboard and fridge full. I can create a 3 course dinner for two without even getting out of the door. And if a blizzard strikes we can live happily for months without electricity but plenty of candles, firewood and matches. Water filter as well. Who said prepping wasn't romantic?

Here is the sherry trifle receipe if anyone wants to try it.
I will even let you pay for the imgredients. Lol

This is in UK measurements so you might have to convert.
Ps don’t try this if you are dieting!

8oz chopped fresh strawberries
6oz chopped fresh raspberries
2 tablespoons of caster sugar (very fine sugar not the usual granulated stuff)

1 tablespoon icing sugar
1/2 pint of double cream use full fat as half fat didn’t work for me
The grated peel of half a lemon
Juice from half a lemon
2 table spoons of sweet white wine (don’t use red I tried that once, big mistake).

Make up 1 pint of custard the proper stuff as it needs to set.
1 small plain Madeira cake / sponge cake (just buy that to save time)
1 tablespoon of Brandy
1 tablespoon of sherry (for some reason it works better with both)
1 tin of peaches in own juice

Decorations for the top like chopped nuts, sliced almonds, 100s/1000s etc

1). Prepare the custard and leave it to cool and almost set

2) Put the strawberries and raspberries in a bowl with the caster sugar and mash with
a fork (don’t liquidise you want it to be mushy).

3) in another bowl mix up the icing sugar, double cream, lemon peel, lemon juice,
and sweet wine.

4) put the strawberry mixture in bottom of serving bowl

5) break the Maderia cake into chunks and put in the bowl.

6) sprinkle over thr brandy and sherry.

7) slice up the peaches and place in the bowl

8) add dollops of the custard which should be cool and almost set.

9) add the lemon cream mixture.

10) sprinkle over decorations.

I’m so wicked aren’t I. Lol 🤪

We've got 8 laying hens, I buy cheeses by the brick, we tried to grow potatos but the darn birds keep eating the sprouts. We buy bulk rice, flour and brown sugar. Cast iron cookwear that can be used right over fire too.

Some day try peasant duck. You'll have to call ahead, they stuff it first, idon't know what with and cover it with clay. bake it the when it's ready they bust it open like a piggy bank. All of the juces are sealed inside, it is so moist and tender, well you'll just have to try it some day.

This is cute..lol..but the sweet thing is HIM COOKING for his date..awesome..i like a man who can cook for his woman..lol
I occasionally cook. My specialty is French Toast, my wife loves this and says it is better than you could get in a fancy restaurant. I also cook chicken especially chicken cacciatore. I cook fresh green beans, my wife says best she has ever eaten. I baked a batch of brownies last week, might do another batch soon.
