I also love how I can purchase all the 'Hip" music in the walmart bargain bins, but I will admit it is kind of hard to play LP's on my current devices.

I love how efficient I have become as a older guy: "Dinner and a movie" can be a whole night experience now and not just the start of one.:cool:

One thing is... It takes you all night long to do what you used to do all night long.

Yeah, but doesn't that make you more faithful and less expectant?!! Maybe that's what you meant....

I think my dog has benefited from my older age even, he eats Science diet now instead of McDonald's leftovers.

I have to admit that it really does get mind-boggling when I really think about it.

Like anyone else, I've seen some things, been through some things, and hopefully learned a few things.

But then I think about being in my 70's... which is about 30 years from now... and then I think about my other grandparents, who died at almost 90... and that's another 20 years... and then I think about the grandparent I've been talking about, should the Lord allow them to make it to 100...

I can't even fathom another 60 years on this earth. Especially since I never had a family. Sometimes I think, "What am I going to do with my life?" (And the answer seems to be--work.)

But another 4-6 DECADES of living? (I've had hospital stays that seemed that long in and of themselves.)

Honestly, it just totally blows my mind.

Im 57 and Im loving being older, and now single, and looking forward to one day living in heaven with God. WoooHooo!

That is how I feel about being older.
No more stupid dumb periods...and that is certainly a day for celebration. Praise God for that! :)
No more man problems...woohoo :)

Life is a delight indeed, as you age.
And lol, theres not so much looking in the mirror or wasting time with preening :)

Your grandchildren are certainly another blessing too.

I cant find anything at all against growing older. Look forward to it with much joy and much delight :)

Tell me about it! My Grandfather lived three centuries. He was born in 1899 and died in 2001. He lived to be 102. Whats the worst part he was sharper than me my entire life...even at the twilight hour, sharp as a tack. I think of my retirement money needs alone would collapse way before the beginning of the last few years heading into the 102 mark. An amazing man. And he was a man of God too. Of coarse!

One thing tho, the older you get the faster time goes. That may not be scientific but then you care less and less about science the older you get too. I fact you careless about everything....NO! Smile.

I know I am only in my 20's, but I am getting older too. I think it is all perspective. There are 40 year olds who complain like you said, and there are 70 and 80 year olds who still find life great and you never hear complain about being old. At least when my memory goes, I wont remember the embarassing thing I did like 3 seconds before.

Hmmmm...

As for the aches and pains of getting older, I'm not sure about that. I have heard someone in his 30's telling someone in his 20's "When you hit 30 everything starts falling apart." I've also heard that said to a 30 year old by a 40 year old, "When you reach 40..." and by a 50-something to a 40-something about getting to 50.

Balderdash.

Then there's my senior pastor who is 83 years of age. This week he went up to Missouri to pick up a load (yet another load) of watermelons. He sells them in front of the bank. Profits go to our Sheaves for Christ offering. Nobody ever asked him to, it's just something he's been doing for years now. I mentioned to his wife, "You know, I heard a rumor that your husband retired." She shook her head and said, "That's just a rumor." And I've never, ever, ever heard him say "When you reach -- everything starts falling apart."

As far as complaining about how your body is doing, I think that's just different people's complaining threshold. I've noticed some people complain when they have very little to complain about, where others only complain if the problem is very large. When I know something about a person I know how serious to take his complaining. Some of my close friends, if they complain about something I will take it serious. I'll wait until THEY start complaining about old age woes. Then I'll start to worry about hitting their age.

I haven't read the responses yet, but things I think sound nice...

Most of the people in my church are either in their 70s, or in their 50s... so by comparison the 50s crowd looks and acts quite young. And I hang out with them so much that to me it seems like no big deal. I'm sure it will sting a bit when I hit my next big milestone. But meh... life goes on!

I'm looking forward to the life alert bracelets and sit down showers.

I feel like I've gotten softer about a lot of things, and tougher in other ways.

Also, it seems like relationships are way more meaningful as I get older.

The future. If you trust God the future is brighter, promising and full of surprises.

Because He lives I can face tomorrow
Because He lives all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
My life is worth the living just because
He lives...
