also, you cant wash them with other things as the water goes blue when the dye runs and ruins all yor other clothes
There is a product that looks like dryer sheets that you put in the wash that absorbs dyes from new clothes. Never tried such a product though. Most of my jeans are old and faded so I don't have that problem. Buy jeans that say that they have been pre-washed on the label. That should take care of the problem of colors running.

My first laundry experience living on my own and having moved out at 19 entailed washing my first and favorite of all sweaters, a blue cashmere.

After the dryer it was the perfect fit for my childhood teddybear.
I sat that precious little cuddly bear on my pillows after I'd make the bed at home. Now, it was the cashmere reminder to learn French so to know next time to hand wash, gently wring, dry flat.

Never learned French. Stayed away from Cashmere to this day.

I got a D in French in high school. Not my favorite subject for sure. Oui.

I bought two laundry baskets
I was tired of my other one which was tall and narrow so the clothes kept piling up, then would have to dig through a big pile of clothes to get to the bottom, so I used that one to put dried flowers in

and bought two shallow and wide baskets so I could toss underwear smalls in one and outer clothes in the other. One can nest inside or on top of the other to save space.

Im not sure why I didnt think of it before, but sometimes genius takes time to cultivate lol

My wife bought an extra laundry basket a few months ago. It has come in handy in managing the laundry process. I got one of those tall ones for myself. A few months ago I started to do my own laundry to help my wife out. I don't dirty too many clothes, just one full loard a week. I do the folding too and am trying to be neat about it and not to just fold the clothes any such way.

I know that it is weird but I like doing laundry but I don't know why I just do. Even the things that can't go in the machines I like doing but I know most people don't like doing laundry.

Actually, these are great to use all the time, not just on new clothes.
I've lost count the number of times I've tossed one in with "old" clothes (stuff that's been washed several times) and am surprised to see just how much color was actually grabbed. But then other times nothing. I also noticed that before using these I would have clothing that had white in it which (even if washed in cold) would turn colors due to the dyes of other colors on the garment. For example, my daughter had a dress in which the top half was white, the bottom half was dark purple velvet. I washed it cold but the purple still bled and turned the upper half (which was white) to a light purple. Thankfully in that case it was alright, didn't ruin the dress, and almost looked like that's how it was made. But other stuff, like red mixed with white= pink (even when washed cold) hasn't been so lucky.
Anyway, I've noticed with these sheets that this isn't happening anymore- the color bleeding is being absorbed by the sheet.
Oh, I did a load of towels one day and out of habit tossed a color grab sheet in with it (even though all the towels were the same shade of blue). I washed them warm, and these are towels that have been used and washed countless times. Well I was very surprised to pull the color grab sheet out and see it was all blue too, you would think after washing so many times that there wouldn't be any color left to transfer, but apparently there was.
These seem to be the 2 main brands I've seen around. I've tried both and personally, I prefer the Carbona Color Grabber (yellow box on left)

I never have actually tried these products but will do so in future washes. I will look for the Carona Color Grabber kind. Thank you for providing a lot of useful information.

Growing up I used to love collecting Wacky Pack cards. Quite humorous. They were where the penny candy was. Sadly, penny candy is obsolete but it was abundant in small corner grocery stores where I grew up.

I have found also that doing laundry is a task that I enjoy. It is fun trying out new products too. Gonna run a load of laundry tomorrow.
