Today is wash day for me I just put a load on
and I DID chuck in my white cords with the rest of my coloured clothes....so we shall see...

the detergent is gardenia and lemon scented eco wash

The sun thankfully is shining.

I also need to do the library throws and cushions at the end of term this week.
So, with the abundant sunshine I am surmising that you will be hanging your wash outside to dry.

That eco wash, is that waste-water friendly? Lemon scent is good. I guess that gardenia is good too.

I don't think that mixing your whites with color clothes is an issue unless you use bleach. I used to use color-safe bleach, which is OK, but not quite as white as with bleach. Now, I use Tide detergent pods with Oxi-Clean.

Fresh and clean.

I dont think we have oxi-clean in nz
theres napisan but that was originally used to wash nappies (diapers to US people) to get them white again.

well have hung my washing out and my cords look white so, they didnt seem to have been coloured by the other coloured clothes, or the black stockings I chucked in there either.

My school uniforms colours are purple and black, I dont think many primary schools would have white as their shirt colour, not that I have seen. In many ways its a lot easier to have a uniform than to wear your own clothes to school, but schools need to take into account the comfort factor and practicalities of the prescribed uniform.

Napisan an Oxi-Clean appear to be nearly identical products.

Laundrymat cost $12 for a large wash and dry I wonder if thats reasonable. I dont hang round though I go to the library next door, there werent many people waiting there. The cushions now seem nice and new and will air the throws tomorrow.

I know theres laundrymats closer to me but I just like going to that one, maybe cos it smells the best I dont know...?! Anyway it was a rainy day so I couldnt have really done washing at home anyway.

Sounds comparable to the laundry mat I used to go to before we got our washer and dryer last year. I found it peaceful inside. This laundry mat had a bunch of bible tracts to read.

the sally army next door was closed that day so there were no Bible tracts to read.

Do they have laundry themed scriptures? Or maybe piped in christian music?

eg What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus

The blood of Jesus is like Oxi-Clean or Napisan. You become as white as snow in the eyes of God. No Christian music though being piped in the laundry mat. Just the hum of the dryers and washers going through their cycles. No laundry theme scriptures either. I liked your analogy about what washes away sins. Very clever indeed. And very true as well.

I think the whole laundry is rather christian since cleanliness is next to Godliness
Even though it may operate on Sundays, its the machines doing all the work, not you hallelujah!

I notice there are no ironing boards in my laundrymat though. Im thinking people must do their ironing somehwhere else, or like me, dont bother

I have never learned how to iron but that is something I'm going to attempt. Still trying to get the knack of neatly folding clothes but progress has been made.

Gonna get a can of Niagara spray starch and put a crease in my jeans. Might iron my tee shirts just for kicks. Ironing might be helpful in the folding process. Nice and neat.

I believe that there is an element of truth in the saying that cleanliness is next to Godliness.

huh went and visited an elderly friend and she said she didnt have a washer since it packed up on her
so she goes to the laundrymat once a week
also her house runs on septic tank, cos its out in the country kind of while us townies are on town supply
She says its no big deal to do it that way

My other friend said she would have just bought a new washer
though I expect that they cost a bundle now.

Here in the states everything costs a bundle due to raging inflation. I have lived in several houses that had septic systems. Every few years you have to arrange to have it emptied. To do that you must first tear up your lawn to access the cover.

huh fun

It is interesting when people say they love living in the country where they cant see people for miles around then at the same time complain they dont have all the amenities like public transport, shops, hospitals, libraries, electricity, water, schools etc.

well not interesting, maybe ironic.

I never cared for living in the country and have always lived in a city of some sort.

I just finished a load of my weekly laundry.

I noticed as I was folding that one of my socks was missing. Sure enough, I left it in the washer, and it did not make it into the dryer. I left a dish towel in the bottom of the washer too. Very disappointed.

So, already getting started with dirty clothes to be washed in a week's time.

Thing is, about the dish towel, that didn't get washed at all last week as it was sticking to the bottom of my laundry basket and did not go in as I tipped my basket upside down to go into the washer. Now, it didn't get dried. Maybe I should just pitch it and get a new set at my local Walmart. I'll keep the sock though.

Waste not, want not is motto, except of course, when it comes to left overs in the fridge. I have been known to toss some in the trash occasionally when I am in one of my organizing moods. Don't like the clutter of Tupperware containers in the fridge. It is a waste of space.
