Is it not possible that showing a video like this to men who are already doing all of these things might be a slap in the face if you don't put some walls around it and explain your position? Men like say... Christians, who are commanded to flee immorality, control their eyes, and keep their thoughts pure.

This video stops just short of placing the blame on normal everyday men, implying they are at fault for helping nurture this culture of violence. It's lacking in substance and comes across as an apology from men everywhere for being pigs. Some of us have been leading the charge for quite a while that we need to clean it up, including some of the men who have been so vocal against this video

Honestly, I've heard guys talk like this before, and it's usually for one reason only - to impress a woman and get her to go out with him. Real men just do this and do it quietly. When they do stand up, they don't make it some politically correct fun fest. They don't pull their punches and imply that women can stumble down a dark alley at 1AM while drunk (which this guy did when he said that it wasn't a woman's fault she got raped because she was drunk).

They get up there and say "men, we have to do better", and meanwhile "women, I don't care who's fault it is, be careful."

Also, I've got to take exception to this little gem here.

One in 3 men are NOT rapists.

See what I mean, this video is garbage, it doesn't even accurately convey the message it's trying to get across. The statistic is that 1 in 3 women are the victim of some form of abuse.
When we are talking about sexual assault, the victims are mostly women. Stop acting like men are the victims here.

They are most certainly becoming victims when people start saying that 1 in 3 men are rapists!

Which kind of explains why some of us are a bit ruffled about this video.

I don't look at women sexually, and I tell other men to do the same thing. If I see bad behavior, I'm probably going to step in and protect someone. What more do you want out of me?

I will try once more to explain. If you speak in ways that are objectifying to women, stop. If you tolerate humor that belittles other people, stop.

If you are already behaving in a manner that treats all humans with honor, great. Don't read anything else into it.

Women rapists?

I haven´t heard about that before, except type these could be any kind of serpent charmer.

Where are they?

They Exist. They are indeed rarer. The woman I linked to there was anything but a charmer, she did it at gunpoint, but from what I understand (and it could be wrong) they tend towards statutory rape, forming unhealthy emotional ties with young boys.

I'm not debating that most rapes occur when a man assaults a woman, that would be well, dumb, what I'm stating here is this man is not genuine in his words, and he throws genuine men under the bus.

Heck, as far as the stats on violent crime go, men tip the scales so far it's kind of embarassing.

And about your statement that 1 in 3 men are rapists? Are you going to let that just hang out there, or are you going to retract it?

There are a few things which come to mind after seeing this video:

I don't even know where to begin but here goes-Kudos to this man for taking the stand against rape and rape culture. I sincerely do applaud him for this. I mean this video is.. informative but key points are left out, it leads us to think that women are the victims and we are not. Women should get up and fight stop expecting a man to always be there to protect you. Learn self defense, get pepper spray, do something, do anything so that should in case a situation like this arise you can protect yourself. A man is not always going to be there to protect you.

I'm not saying that this is the case for every woman so don't get me wrong I am just saying that it would be best if a woman learnt to protect herself. Depend on no one, at the end of the day the only human you have to be there for you is yourself.

I was going off the inference in the video. The statistics on rape, assault, and abuse vary because of the lack of reporting, some false reports, and reports that are unprovable. It's a possible figure, but not a definitive one. Going off of the number of women I know who have survived rape and sexual abuse, I wouldn't completely discount it.

Honestly, whether or not that was the most accurate statistic has little bearing on the point that we rape is not just an issue that women have to try to prevent. It was only asking that men participate as well, and we have discussed ad nauseum what that means. That's all.

It's not meant to address every aspect of reducing rape. That's why it only covers this one facet which is usually ignored.

OK, here's what the video says in a nutshell. I'm just listing the facts that are claimed in the video here...

Claim #1) One out of every three men are potential rapists

Claim #2) Men are pigs

Claim #3) Men need to wake up and stop thinking/acting like pigs

I don't know where that guy gets his facts from, but in my book those register a big ol' 10 on my BS meter, unless he is specifically addressing places in the world where women are treated like slaves (but something tells me he is speaking more generally).

..and those three claims are the reason why the men here, REAL men, CHRISTIAN men, men who RESPECT WOMEN have a problem with this video.

At a certain point one wonders if some might be protesting too much.

Other than saying "talk to our friends about it", I've heard NOTHING from you to steer us men in ANY direction to help. MY FRIENDS don't need to hear it! Other than "blond jokes" & "women drivers", I've never heard any of them make derogatory remarks about them! Besides that, a real rapist doesn't listen to anybody! They're psychologically messed up! If you don't believe me, check on the stats of how many rapists come out of prison only to rape again! Sheesh!

Why would you be upset by a request to speak respectfully about all people, specifically women? It shouldn't require a lot of effort, and it's something that we as Christians should be doing anyway.

Tintin: "Jesus said Christians will be hated because they are his followers, not because they don't use their brains."

And by this logic, Santa is a woman. Therefore, Santa is evil.

Some guy (or college indoctrination), has really done a number on this woman. Almost every thread I click on with her posting, she bashes, degrades, accuses, or puts down men in some fashion.
Heck I could probably find a hundred articles or videos that say women are the bane of humanity. Of course, however, we should all know by now in our lives that there are some men AND women that act horribly, and some that act Godly.

Why are all of these men (& some women) upset? because you either missed the point, or you don't care about the point. All these guys have been trying to tell you, & you're not listening.

RED: True that. She seems to have a knack of going into a thread & smacking a hornet's nest.

Not all. The first page was mostly supporters, men included.

Have any of you noticed how many threads are devoted to the degradation of women here? The objectification of the modesty threads, the belittling of the submission threads, etc.? Again, I am not anti-male, and this thread was not anti-male. It was asking men to treat women with respect, if they are not already doing so.

All people should be treated with respect, women included.

I'm sorry for referring to your ex-husband as "el ex-o", that was disrespectful of me. Thank you for the correction sister Misty.

5. Win court battle against el ex-o.
