It could be heartburn though.
Heartburn
So I asked you out today
Because there was no other way
I thought we should go skating
But you said no, so now I'm staying
At home all by myself
Sitting alone next to my bookshelf.
I have a tub of ice cream in my hands
And I'm listening to all my favorite bands
Using the noise of their voices
To drown out the roses
I bought a box of the donuts that I like
Though not without picking a fight.
But no amount of chocolate sprinkles
Can unfurrow my brow and smooth out my wrinkles
I end up burning my tongue on hot cocoa
So I toss it and eat just the marshmallows
When you said no I felt a billion years older
And I think I'd prefer if my heart was colder.
I still can't help but heat up
At the prospect of a meet-up
Why am I not surprised
I just wish I could look you in the eye
Without getting a heartburn
Without blushing like a girl.
I just don't understand
Why you can hold my hand
Without feeling a thing
And it makes my blood sing
But you said no and now my stomach churns
With a different kind of heartburn.
