I would also tell you about the times I've written to prison inmates with LWOP (life without parole) on Hello Kitty stationery (and they actually said they liked it, even though they got a lot of flack for it, of course...).

They said it was nice to see something colorful in prison since there is virtually no color behind the walls... and that they could tell instantly from a mile away when they were getting a letter from me--they could see the colorful envelope from across the floor when the clerk brought the mail.

But that's another story for another time.

LOL... ha! I almost fell off my chair... gosh thanks... I needed a good laugh! Oh dear...<collecting self>... not sure if I'm really old or you were really sheltered? A Pee-Chee is one of those paper folders you put your school papers in and there were ones with Lisa Frank artwork instead of the classic cover.

I must have been really sheltered also because I have NEVER heard of Pee Chee.

Im a recovering sex/porn addict. It has taken me years to get on top of it. Blood sweat and tears (And alot of praying/begging). I hate and flee from anything that throws me back. It is a horrible depressing cycle. A womans body should be her husbands. I wish we lived in inocent times but we dont and to think we do still is ignorant. I wouldnt post pictures of needles infront of a ex junkies face. Dont cause people to backslide even if your intention is innocent you may damage somebody else. Rhiannons new poster that covers the town I am from now is softcore porn and I have a 2 1/2 year old son living here. Nothing makes me more furious. If I get a chance Im going to go around at night and rip them all down.

I like to write letters, so my Hello Kitty merchandise of choice is NOT clothing or accessories, but stationery, stickers, and rubber stamps. My friends know I'm a big kid at heart so they see it as an extension of my personality.

To me, Hello Kitty is a symbol of my adult independence... And my ability to be able to afford the things my family couldn't when I was growing up. Within reason, of course. The most I'll shell out is maybe a whopping $10 for a stationery set. And I have a small shelf of H.K. things my little niece has gotten for me over the years. :) I also made covers for my sewing machines in colorful Hello Kitty fabric, just as my own act of adult defiance--the fact that now I get to have my own say in what I can and can't have.

Yes, I know I'm an odd duck and most won't understand this, but to me, Hello Kitty is almost a symbol of childhood rebellion.

oh don't apologize. i LOVE this blurb. i am often doing things as an adult- well- YOUNG adult- to make up for things i felt i didn't have as a kid. and i wasn't as deprived as you. only emotionally. lol. :) i feel like we've never properly met seoulsearch. hi! i'm truthy. lol :D

random thought: there was a florida driver? in a hello kitty car. huge cat stencil on the side and the headlights of the car had hot pink EYELASHES. to match....the driver was putting on HER lashes WHILE SHE DROVE. wasn't signalling, wasn't paying attention. ALMOST CAME INTO OUR VEHICLE trying to change lanes without looking. i wish i had reported her. but i didnt get a good enough look at the license plate. altho. maybe if you give a police report and say 'the car with the hot pink lashes is driving extremely dangerously', they'll know what you mean.

just keep in mind. not EVERYONE who bears that beloved cat is in their right mind. lol!

well i am sure we have plenty of her media counterparts. altho usually not in humongous posters in the city but then again...i don't really live in that kind of city.

Unless, of course, you are a Hollywood celebrity. Then it's just nips, tucks, fillers, injectibles, silicone, and a whole lot of botox.
