I honestly think they look cool, but honestly don't think god loves it all that much...just being honest according to biblical terms :) I would if I wen't and obeyed the desires of my flesh but don't because the spirit convicts me not too...just my opinion not meaning to hurt any-ones feelings. I'm far from perfect god sees my heart and the things I need to fix about myself, not judging only telling my honest opinion. There is no doubt in my mind that people with piercings or tattoos are nice people, just not for me i'd feel too strong of a conviction. Interesting topic though bringing up so thoughts nice :)

grace-like-rain its a free country,you can make up whatever thread you like.to be honest I wish you guys would check out some of the vids before making up your mind.i watched a few and although i thought it quite harsh what some of them were saying it began to make sense when they began to break the whole thing down using scripture.christianity in America seems to have made the narrow road Jesus talked about a lot wider than its supposed to be.

My apologies Marrion, I may have been presumptuous in assuming that you spoke tongue-in-cheek.

I'm sure there is some merit to what they have to say. I know that modesty is a serious problem in America as well as other things - we have a lot that needs fixing. But when people start saying that this or that will send you to hell, I have to check out of the hotel. Any sin can send you to hell if you don't have Christ. And nothing can send you to hell if you do.

I don't buy into any of these stories. Wearing jeans sends you to hell if you're a woman? Can anyone say works based legalism? So i guess that scripture that says 'all who call upon the name of the lord will be saved' wasn't used by any of these women?

Key to this is the bible is clear that some things are wrong for one person but not for another. You're doing right by staying away from something you feel conviction over. But the key is not everyone will be held to that same conviction. And Christians tend to forget this. They so often feel if THEY think somethings wrong, then it must be wrong for everyone. Funny how many people like to skip the scriptures that teach otherwise. (not saying you are.. just got on a rant haha )

God cannot lie or contradict himself. Linda is a false prophet and is spreading lies in His name (a more accurate meaning of using the Lord's name in vain). Our salvation is by grace through faith, not works. And I find your objectification of women to be unloving, condemning, sexist, and offensive.

As has been discussed earlier in several posts in this thread, when Rebekah, Isaac's future wife and mother of Jacob (who was the father of the 12 tribes of Israel) drew water for Eliezer's camels, Eliezer (Abraham's servant who was sent to find God's pick for a wife for Isaac) rewarded her with jewelry.

The Bible specifically mentions Eliezer placing gold bangles on her arms and a ring in her nose (Gen. 24).

I could be wrong, as we don't know anyone's eternal destiny for sure, but I highly doubt that Rebekah went to hell, nor would any Christian woman go to hell just for wearing jewelry. If it's a matter of vanity or materialism or God convicts someone personally, then yes, maybe there are things God wants to work through in their heart.

Please also read Ezekiel 16. When God speaks to Jerusalem through Ezekiel about how He has taken them in and cared for them like a newborn daughter who was left for dead, GOD Himself says: "I pledged Myself to you... and you became Mine. I adorned you with jewelry, putting bracelets on your wrists and a chain around your neck." God was later highly offended when they took this jewelry and committed adultery with them. It wasn't the jewelry itself that was condemned--God obviously meant for it to be a symbol of love--but rather, the fact that they made it into something they worshiped above God, which someone can do with ANYTHING (including other people.)

I could be wrong, but I truly believe if God was going to send women to hell just for wearing jewelry, He would not talk about being Someone who gave His people jewelry, even as an allegory.

If you feel that wearing makeup, jewelry, or jeans will send you to hell, live by your convictions, yes. But I think that while modesty is something God condones, condemnation is not.

I've visited Linda Ngaujah's website and had a decent browse through the materials. The woman is clearly a legalistic nutter. She seems to have mental issues. It's that, or she's a false prophet. Either way, you shouldn't take her message as Gospel.

Of course, our outward appearance cannot substitute for inward holiness. Adam and Eve covered themselves with fig leaves after they sinned, but God found their efforts inadequate. By making clothing of animals skins for them, He confirmed that they indeed needed modest clothing, but He also revealed that the holiness in appearance must be associated with God’s provision for our sins. Only by the death of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, do we obtain the righteousness of God that we seek to reflect outwardly.

God instructed Israel’s high priest to wear holy garments, “for he represented a holy God" (Exodus 28:2). God also ordered the priests to wear clothing that covered their nakedness and forbad elevated altars upon which priests would walk and thereby expose their nakedness (Exodus 20:26; 28:42).

Deuteronomy 22:5 enunciates the moral principle of a clear distinction between male and female in outward appearance: one sex must not wear styles of clothing associated with the other. It states, "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so [are] abomination unto the LORD thy God."

Proverbs 7:10 speaks of a woman with “the attire of an harlot.” Clearly, certain garments are associated with sin and are not suitable for godly people to wear.

The principle that God wants His people to reflect His holiness applies to the New Testament Church (Peter 1:15-16). We are called to be living epistles read of all people, declaring to the world God’s holy nature and His abiding presence (II Corinthians 3:3).

Our outward appearance is one way in which we are unspoken witness of the transforming power of Christ.

I Timothy 2:9 admonishes “that women adorn themselves in modest apparel with shamedfacedness and sobriety, not with broided hair, gold, or pearls, or costly array." I Peter 3:3 gives similar instructions.

I Corinthians 11: 16 teaches that a woman should have a long hair, for it is her glory, and that a man should not have a long hair. A person’s hair serves as an important visible symbol of his or her submission to God’s plan of authority and as a distinguishing mark between the sexes.

Revelation 16:15 uses clothing as a symbol to instruct the church to stay close to God: “Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

Clearly, God puts emphasis on the outward appearance of a person.To an extent, clothing reflects the condition of the heart, and it sends a message to others about a person’s values.

Wearing godly dress is not a meritorious work to earn salvation rather it is a response to the saving grace of God. The blood of Jesus is our only righteousness. Our salvation comes from God, never from our good works. To think that we could earn His marvelous grace by adhering to dress codes would be a terrible mistake.

But to accept the grace of God and then be indifferent to Christ’s commandment for the holy living would discredit His mercy. If the church preaches Christ and His saving grace without teaching biblical guidelines to live by, it leaves people open to confusion and failure. Deliberate and continous disobedience to Gods Word will lead to the loss of saving faith.

Who can view the Cross without wanting to comform to Christ? Who would want to continue his or her old sinful patterns of living when Jesus Christ died to bring deliverance from those sins? When people comprehend His holiness, they desire to become holy.

While it is true that the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sins, it is also true that genuine love for Him restrains a person from presuming upon His marvelous grace.

In our success-oriented society no one considers it odd if a company requires its employees to comform to a dress code. Why then should a church that teaches neatness and modesty for the purpose of honoring the holiness of God be considered cultish, restrictive, or legalistic?

If we are to honor God in our hearts, it is consistent to honor Him with an outward dedication. I John 2:15 intructs us, “Love not the world”: surely then, we would be foolish to mirror wordly values in our appearance.

Adhering to a modest godly standard of dress and conduct offers protection from the surge of immorality that plagues our generation. Clothes and appearance transmit nonverbal signals. Christians who verbalize godliness but at the same time nonverbally declare sensuality and ungodliness destroy the effectiveness of their gospel witness.

The primary purpose of many fashion designs is to exalt the ego, attract undue attention to the flesh, stir desires, and ignite passion in others, thereby appealing to the lust of flesh, the lust of eyes, and the pride of life, which the Bible condemns (I John2:16). If we are honor to the holiness of God, we must not dress in such styles and with such motives.

We must not naively ignore the complex causes of immorality and marital infidelity, but neither should we ignore the influence that sensual dress has on adultery and fornication. If a man looks with lust upon a woman he commits adultery in his heart (Matthew 5:28). If a woman provokes a lustful look by her appearance is she not partly responsible for the man’s sin? If people would dress in ways that do not provoke lust, the moral fiber of our society would be strengthened.

The danger of overemphasizing any discipline in the Christian life is that some people allow the discipline to become a legalistic code. Some people who harbor unholy attitudes such as hatred, bitterness, envy, and strife falsely think they are spiritual because they wear modest clothes.

Such distortions are hypocritical and wrong. But we cannot dismiss the need for modesty in dress because some distort it. The biblical alternative to legalism is not permissiveness or license but self discipline motivated by grace, faith, love, the Word of God, and the Holy Spirit. (See John 14:15; I Corinthians 9:14-27; II Timothy 2:24-27; John 2:3)

For the sake of our children, we must teach them to respect the holiness of God in all areas of life. Allowing or encouraging preteens and teenagers to dress in many of today’s fashion is an invitation to social and spiritual problems.

A dress code will not automatically remedy the decaying moral fiber among youth, but it does remind them of God’s commandments. We must begin somewhere to teach children and youth moral responsibilty, and standards of modesty in dress offer us this opportunity.

When we honor God and His Word in our hearts and in our outward appearance, He places an umbrella of protection over our families. While moral decay sweeps modern society and many modern churches, we are able to remain relatively untouched. The world may scoff at our modesty, but we dare not lay down our cloak of protection and our obedience to the Word of God.
its also funny to me how we label Christian women who follow Gods new testament commands regarding appearance as legalistic and crazy.Maybe these women have been enlightened to something that we have rejected.Maybe they are being warned that the narrow road to eternal life is more narrow than what we have made it out to be.i know one thing for sure I have the utmost respect fr these women because they are taking a lot of criticism and persecution for what they stand for and we must remember that Jesus said most people are on the broad road that leads to destruction but only few are on the narrow road that leads to life eternal.we love to hear pastors that tell us that God doesn't care what we look like on the outside and that he is only concerned with the heart.sounds like they are trying to make the narrow road a little broader to fit more people on.

Yeah sure thing man. I dont think a lip ring is causing the downfall of american morals. Though I must admit I do always love the modesty-brigade when they roll through. It would be interesting to hear just to what extreme you find appropriate. Amish perhaps? Maybe burkas would sate your anger?

What about painting my nails? Fixing my hair with a new clip/headband? Wearing mascara? None of those have physical or spiritual value but no one makes a fuss about those things.

I don't think all piercings are glorifying to God (the ones made in sexual places) but I don't think all piercings are condemned by God, either.

I'm not trying to sound like a broken record, but why is it that you don't even bother to answer that question?

Because you are therefore clearly saying that Rebekah, Isaac's wife, must have been an ungodly harlot who went to hell.

If you're going to say facial piercings are all wrong, please at least address a question about an important Biblical woman whom God Himself chose--and she had a nose ring. How can you make such statements as the law of God when you won't even answer a simple inquiry about one of the most important women in the New Testament?

Just one other observation: extreme legalism (following the "narrrow-er road") never seems to produce righteousness. It produces pious-sounding people who believe they're better than anyone else and judge others for not meeting standards they themselves have set.

Just look at the Pharisees and Sanhedrin.

If your piercings are a form of worship, then they are wrong. If they are art, then guess what. We were made in the image of a creative God which means part of his identity in us is found in us exercising our creativity. Like tattoos they can become an addiction or a form of rebellion, but they don't have to be. I find nothing wrong with piercings, even those sexual ones provided they are only used in your marriage.
