Sadly, today's artists aren't the Alan Jackson's or George Straits. They all pretty much sound the same, and sing about the same thing.
Don't you get me started Jsr1221. I'll be dropping names that'll have folks going to youtube to check them out. Names like Hank Snow (I've Been Everywhere Man.) Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr., Charlie Pride, T.G. Sheppard.
I know I'm forgetting others.

I've heard all but Hank Snow (I've heard that song, though) Charlie Pride and T.G. Sheppard. It shows the generational gap on my end.

I remember when my mom or dad went out on the front or back step to call us kids to come home; no cell phones then.

I remember when nearly every mom on the block stayed home and just the dads worked.

Not much of gap my friend. Not when there's George Straight and Alan Jackson. They are great.

Remember,
Remember when old folks would say, My family didn't have a car when I was growing up. We didn't have electricity in our house. Bathroom was outback in the outhouse. We wore hand-me-downs. Times were tough. You kids wouldn't know what to do with yourselves without TV. That was old folks talking. That was when grandmas were in the 60s. Not in their 40s.

I remember when school principal could spank kids. I remember it. Never got one. Never!

My mom would try to have me wear a fanny pack at the mall. I did not like those! :p

Remember when homework took you ten minutes to do? (extremely good times, lol)

I never got 'one' either. It was usually 2 or 3 at a time. I read something profound in detention once. 'The problem with kids today (1968) is that they don't get patted on the back enough, low enough and hard enough'. I don't really subscribe to that reasoning but it seemed funny at the time.
