Why? Was it that you couldn't.
Or was it a matter of I don't want to?
Oh, I could certainly do it but I would rather do other more pleasant things. I guess I was lacking a sense of direction and purpose.

Okay. I understand. Lacking a sense of direction...you were a kid under the paw of the government. That's a different issue, though.

Oh, here's one I really want to post.

I remember when funeral procession of vehicles would be pass through. This is the truth. I am not joking. I am serious. When a funeral procession went by, other drivers would pull over to the side of the road. Vehicles on both side of the road. Pedestrians would stop and face the road and be still. I kid you not.

Galahad, I had to check your profile to see where you are from. :p We still do this in Texas and Louisiana. It always touches me to see people paying tribute to someone's loss in this way. I hope it never falls out of practice here.

You're kidding!

Not here.
People cut threw the procession. If not that they will drive along side it or speed by it. The least they could do would be to pull to the side and slow down. Nope. Not here.

But I believe you and I'm glad to hear they do that in some parts. You might want to discreetly take a pic of it next time. Might come to an end in a few years. I don't know.

Thanks for sharing and letting me know. It's kinda like seeing blue sky with thick clouds after a rain storm. Just pleasant. Pleasant to know.

Okay, since I haven't seen anyone mention it, I'll go super-spiritual on y'all and say...

Remember when God was welcome in school? :)

Funny. I don't really remember that. I went to a Christian school from 4th grade to my Sophomore year, so it was expected there, but I don't remember elementary that well. :) But I wish God would be welcome. He's sure needed there.

(That said, many in my circle here are teachers or retired teachers and they subtly bring God into their classrooms. Beautiful!)

Remember when....

Sundays were about Church, Family, naps and no work????
People weren't so selfish and lazy?
Some ones word was worth something?
People actually got raises annually?
When gas was less than a $1.00 and all your friends could give you a dollar to fill the tank and you could cruise for hours?

Yeah, I went to a funeral last month and one of us actually had to drive to the front of the procession line and hold up traffic so people would actually let us through (because they had to let us through; they couldn't get around). Before that, people were cutting the line off left and right.

Oh, etcha sketch? YES. Those were the best. Can you still buy them? I even know the name of the company that made them OHIO ART. I didn't look it up. Those were my favorite. I used to move the dials so that it would move the stuff inside. Okay. So I would move it like back and forth in one local area. Then I could see the arms inside moving the needle or point that was moving the stuff on the screen. Plus, I could draw. Not like what I drew. Start over. Oh those were one of my favorite. They were a mystery.
I'm going to go buy one.

Wow, that's so sad! Do you not have police escorts that go ahead of the procession to stop traffic at the intersections?

Hmmm i must live in paradise... much of this is currently true. Gas is less than $1 (a litre) here, I do get raises annually because I haven't reached the top of my union classification yet, I do Church and naps on Sunday because I don't have to go to work, and my neighbours are generous, energetic and honest. God is good, so my memory doesn't have to be! :)

Remember when we were kids and wanted to grow up? What were we thinking?
Remember when we were kids and used to jump from tile to tile at the mall to avoid the lava? Maybe that was just me XD my mom was never amused.

Remember when Pluto was still a planet?

OH! Jumping from chair to couch to... pillow in the living room to avoid lava.

Yeah, who ever thought that growing up would be as disappointing as it is. Endless summer days of catching frogs, and turtles, and fishing, and swimming and walks in the woods. Snowball fights, walking through the mud and sometimes having mud fights.

Some of those things I still do, but not the same as it was then. Being blissfully un-self aware. :)

haha I would have never dared to jump from furniture. But, I used to do a lot of those things as well, except I was more into catching snakes than frogs. I was brave back then :p

Snakes were rare where I grew up, I've only seen a gardener snake in the wild here. (Or is it a garden snake)
fur
We only jumped on the furniture in the downstairs family room.... never in the living room where the nice furniture was; and the jumping only happened when my parents weren't home.

Remember when...

it was safe to play outside
toys weren't electric
a college degree meant something
college was affordable
cancer was rare
dogs didn't have clothes
more people were Christians
you could get a video game for $20
you could rent a movie from Blockbuster
the power rangers were Mighty Morphin
a creature that was half cat and half dog became a tv hit
Disney shows were actually good
Robin Williams was alive and amazingly talented :(
Beanie Babies were going to be worth 'a lot' of money lol
you had to catch them all
the beavers were angry before the birds
and tree stars tasted like candy
