I personally saw the first two movies, they were creative originals and just, for whatever reason, never saw third in the series (Prisoner of Azkaban) and then saw the fourth one , forget its name but I did see it ! Phoenix somethingorother title, had dragons in it. Never seen part 1 hallows or now this finale part 2 Hallows but probably wil. Will you?

Anyway, this magical series finally ends....

But it's going to whirlwind its way to record box office makings it looks, unless taking in 42.5 million in ONE midnight showing at theatres across the country is not a sign of things to come.

Perspective?
Transformers is the TOP grossing movie hit this year and in its intial weekend it made 47 million. That's THREE or FOUR showings per day for THREE days of accumulated box office $$ totals.

So, what is it with this Harry Potter obsession? Is it wrong to seee movies like that or take your teenagers able to see a PG-13 movie?

Well, what is it with death and dying and magical powers that makes us all soooo giddy in america, so fascinated?

Do these movies affect kids in a bad way if they watch them and are christians so they know 'The Way' already?

What positives come from a movie like Harry Potter for you? Can there be 'witness' from seeing this kind of movie? How?

Why is Harry Potter so in a class by itself for this box office goblin stuff? Beating out the superheroes , big-time (Spiderman has THREE in its trilogy and Superman had 4 sequels to its original (counting Superman Returns) and neither will out-box-office Harry Potter. Not even close is my guess.

Answer any all questions you want. I know, I know, I am such a long-winded green-smiling gent :D

God bless !

I saw the first two HP movies and liked them, then I saw the one before this new one and it didn't make any sense to me and seemed like just a bunch of special effects, so I certainly won't be seeing this new one.

A lot of the success is in the HP franchise which includes all the marketing outside of the movie (Thrill rides, games, toys, collectibles, etc..). Its like the Star Wars franchise. I thought the last star wars movie sucked, but it still broke box office records because its a star wars movie. The same goes for James Bond movies and Lord of the Rings.

When my nephew was just a little boy he asked me to read the series of books to him. I fell in love with the characters and have seen every movie when they came out in the theaters ( and I rarely go to the movies). SO YES! I will go see this one. I see what people mean when they say that these movies can be harmful to the unsaved. But I think everything has to be approached with some caution. Such as be moderate in your drinking if you drink and such. It is important for people to know that there is evil and to dabble with it is wrong and scary but if you approach this movie as just a childrens story I don't see the harm. I guess what I'm saying is arm children with the word of God and then leave them in his hands.

This series never appealed to me from day one, books, or movies. And after having worked for 4 years at a bookstore and working during the release of Half Blood Prince, and seeing what fanatical nutbags some of these people were didn't encourage me. We stayed open so we could start selling right at midnight, had a party, games, whole big thing. Think they said we had about 300 people in the store. I was one of the people who wheeled out the boxes of books from the warehouse to the registers. People were awestruck just by seeing the boxes. People were reaching out to touch the boxes as we wheeled past them. It was like a religious experience for some of these people. Some people were even camped out front of the store. It had to be one of the weirdest experiences i've had. And thats not for a lack of weird experiences.

I come from an occultic background and so I have particular issues with things that glorify the idea of magic and spells as a tool to defeat evil or even to participate in evil rather than Christ even if it is for entertainment.

The bible says teach your children in the way they should go and they will not depart from it, I dont think alowing children this kind of input is healthy.

Being a Christian and child of God comes with a higher level of responsibility than those who are unsaved we are called to be the difference. . how can we give good witness when we indulge in these kinds of entertainments?

I guess the qusestion we need to ask ourselves is. . Would Jesus sit down with me to watch this show/film or am I trying to justify watching something cos it's cool or fashionable?

If your honest and the answer is no. . then ask yourself why you really want to sit through it.

Lol I just came back from watching it AND I LOVED IT! I have the books also so this is like something personnal for me:rolleyes: I'm a harry potter geeek and I don't know why actually. I guess it's because the HP book (the 3rd book) was the first book I ever read. I mean, a real long book. I was like 11 back then and I guess I just fell in love with the characters and the plot. Now I'm 19 and I felt like I had to finish my tradition lol.
Of course all the fantastic and magic theme attracted me, but as a kid I just thought it was awesome in an innocent way. Although I thought that making magic with a wand and flying in a broom was awesome, I never tried to practice magic of any kind, and I knew they weren't real.
I think this is the same thing that happens for star wars, superman, iron man, etc. Kids will always be amazed by things that include magic, super powers, super weapons, or super anythings.

Howeeeeeeeveerrr, I understand thaat some people are more vulnerable to the exposure of magic, violence, fantasy, etc than others. Some kids can be exposed to those things and just grab the good message of it. Others can be exposed, and be influenced in a wrong way. That's why I think you should know your child, educate him since very little about Christ, and if you notice it is having a bad influence on him, then I would agree that it's harmful.

I wont see it in theaters, yet I will see it on T.V., just as I waited until the 4th and 5th movies were shown on T.V.

Plus, I finished the 7th book around 3 years ago, and I think that the movies are pale in comparison.

1. Spellcheck is your friend.
2. I have to see it because I want the completion badge, but I haven't really liked them since Order of the Phoenix.

I've seen all the movies, and read all of the books. Luna Lovegood was the best character...I'll see the new movie, but once the crowds die down. I'm not into sharing armrests with others.

I'm an HP fanatic.

I actually had midnight premiere tickets (bought them a month in advance), but then I decided against it. I've yet to see it.
I'm attempting to postpone the end of my childhood. Lol

I read my first Harry Potter book in the second grade, and I never stopped since. I remember back when I still had the excitement of waiting for the new books to come out. Lol

SPOILER ALERT: I'm positive I'm going to cry when Fred dies. And Tonks. And Lupin. It's going to be terrible.

My first was the Prisoner, I was like 11 back then. I couldn't stop reading them afteer that one either. I too felt that excitement lol. I almost cried in the movie haha, the Snape part was the most touching for me. I actually felt quite stupid since HP is not exactly a "touching movie". But I tend to mix the book with the movie when I watch the movies, and I always tend to complain at the end because they didn't put certain parts of the book

I'm still upset that they never explained that Neville or Harry would have fulfilled the prophecy. I think it was important enough to at least be mentioned.
