I think...

Ya'll should organize a CC-CSF 3-day rafting trip down the Green River.

Because that is located closer to me. And rafting + camping?

WIN.

You are after my own heart .. Rafting and camping .. Oh yes!!!

Seatbelt, Powmm, is there a great camping place close to Bonham, TX? Or would it be better near OKC.
Personally, I think somewhere centrally located might work best for everyone ..
Now this is just an idea I'm throwing out ..
I know two cc members that live in Oklahoma ..close enough I would pick up ..so if anyone has trouble with a ride I could certainly help get them there on this end .. If someone were doing this for me , I would pitch in enough for gas and an oil change for giving me a ride.. oh and I'll be bringing an ice chest .. y'all can eat in restraunts .. I'll be fishing and earing fish on my campfire lol..

I started white water rafting with my husband (while we were still dating) and his parents. My first trip was a 5 day, 4 night one, with them and a group of law enforcement officers and volunteer search and rescuers.

I was scared out of my mind. I'm so shy, and didn't really know anyone but my husband, and I'd never been on a boat before (a canoe, sure, but a raft is so different). Had no idea what to wear, what to bring, all that fun stuff. Pretty much freaking out.

We camped out the night before we got on the river, and everyone else was all keyed up and excited to go the next morning. I was just like...um..'kay? Whatever.

And then I got settled on my husband's raft and we started floating down the literally GREEN river, right off the bat entering into this red rock canyon. Oh my word, it was the most beautiful scenery. I didn't have to do anything most of the time we were on the boat except sun bathe, occasionally hold on tight through a rapid, and have conversations with the ducks, geese, mountain goats, deer, elk, and other birds we saw along the river banks.

And then setting up camp each night...there was such a sense of...I dunno, camaraderie. Every person pitched in to tie up boats, unload gear, set up the kitchen, prep dinner, pitch their tents, cook, and clean up before finally just lounging in the sand or camp chairs by the fire until late into the night.

And sunrise in a canyon? One of God's most wonderful creations. You don't see the colors as the sun comes up, but you just feel the world waking up around you, and then finally the sun creeps up over the canyon wall and all you want to do is bask in it.

And then you get to float down the river again.

Ooh...I didn't really mean to write a book about that. I just love it so much, but I've only gotten to go on long trips a handful of times (did one last summer). There's a trip coming up in June that my husband is going on (as he's part of search and rescue) but what with having two kiddos now, and the trip is so long, I won't be going.

Hey...pray for me to not pout like a little baby about it...haha.

If it's going to be camping, I would suggest HERE: Petit Jean State Park – Petit Jean Mountain – Arkansas State Park simply because in the middle of summer the weather is cooler there. doesn't hurt that it is georgeous to boot. Plus they have tent camping, cabins, & a nice lodge...for a diverse set of ideas as to what "camping" means.
Doing something in town (OKC!) would likely cost more, but could afford us a variety of experiences... I'm good at packing a whole amazing lot into one weekend!
I think the Green River trip would have to be year 2. Or maybe we could build up to it by first doing the Illinois. My Bible class likes going up there on the off season and we always stay here: http://www.arrowhead-thunderbird.com/Site/

No no I'm so glad you shared the experience!! THIS is "exactly" what I'm talking about .. Right here!
The body of Christ coming together , everyone doing their part , bringing in others who are interested wanting to learn about it.. Any coo coo knows someone just coming in isn't going to know what to do.. This is where "sharing" our talents with one anoter comes into play .. "building up" the body as a whole.. I totally" get " what you're talking about .. tell hubby to take pictures and send them to you when he's gone .. You know "moon you" eachother or whatever it is y'all do to play and keep connected ,.

That's why I made both suggestions. Also, Tulsa maybe another canidate, depending on what all states are represented.

Hey Seatbelt: Have you started a thread yet in regards to camping?

My son and his family live in Tulsa.. It's about a two hour drive away.. Sometimes I get up super early and drive ther just to go to church with them.. talk about a working body of Christ ... This church is very healthy .. The younger generations are working outside the churches doctrines, they have come together with other different denomination churches (also younger generations) ..and formed their first successful body a couple of weekends ago.. Ministering together in actions to needy families in the community ... (not sure how I got on this subject)
Anyway I'm going to Tulsa tomorrow "yes thats where I was trying to go " .. I will see what all is offered ...
I think I need duct tape put over my mouth... I am so sorry mark ... This mouth just keeps going and going..Geez somebody stop her lol

I was just reading a post in the news forum.. and it got me thinking about a few things ..

1. although these things and places entice me.. Although my eyes want to "see".. I must look beyond them to a larger picture
and to what's coming ...
2. Is it wiser to spend whats being put in reserve for storage in those times?
3. Are the places "I" want to go really a distraction to be taken of course?
4. What is the purpose for them and is there one?
5. Do I negate my course for a quick adventure .. Only to find myself Stalled to get back on track to where I "really" want to go ?
6. is this a commitment that is short term or long term, and what am I actually investing in doing it ?
7. as much fun and as much as I would like to go, Wich direction is it really pulling me too?
The first question I think I'll really ask is... after reviewing all of this and handing it all up to God is...
Is this a product of my will and plan or your will and plan?

some humbling questions I must ask God and listen for His answers on .. "first"

Ok, I must go and see this post, and see if it's a subject similar to one I was thinking of posting. If it is, I'll post there, otherwise, I'll start a new thread.

Just checked, and nope, nothing there. So, be looking for something on this forum soon, in regards to prepping.
