Today I encountered my first scenario in which someone invited themselves to my wedding. And it happened 4 different times today. I was completely unprepared and I'm pretty sure I could not have been more awkward.

"We're invited right?"
Me: *looks around frantically*

uh

uh

...

"I'm gonna go...eat some cheese. "

I spent this afternoon reevaluating the guest list and preparing myself with slightly more eloquent responses to future incidents.

I remember that happening to me. One time I was at Applebee's with my now Husband, bumped into a guy who I was friends with for a while, he wasn't always very nice. I introduced him to Dave, Oh, congratulations, I'll be expecting my invitation. He didn't get one. I hadn't seen him or had contact with him for about 3 years before that, uh no.

Yikes! I hope you threw the piece of cheese at them. ;)

Thankfully they didn't really give me THAT hard of a time. I mean, these aren't people who are generally rude. They probably just got caught up in the excitement. And (most) of them seemed more hopeful than demanding.
I was just so unprepared for it and probably looked like a deer in headlights.

The cheese was good though.

I volunteer in the morning at my church by serving coffee. It's a very challenging job because we not only have regular coffee but also decaf, hot chocolate, and hot water for those tea-drinker, coupled with special request such as half and half and such (emphasis added). Now, once we finish setting up everything, first thing I do is drink my first cup with generous portion of liquid creamer (french vanilla). It was so good that I ended up having three cups. Now, I go to the second service at 10:30 afterward, sit usually in the fourth or fifth row (which is still considered "front" row because it's a pretty big church). I left my bible in the middle of the fifth row, saving my spot, and went to the rest room just to wash up. Ended up meeting this Jewish man and conversed, whom I got to know earlier by serving him with a regular coffee, and ended up coming back right after the worship began. So I was like going through about ten people standing up to praise, excusing myself and felt very bad for coming in late. So I came through all the way, thinking the bible I saw before getting through the pew (it's a new bible - ESV and I'm liking it very much), only realizing it wasn't mine - wrong row. Fortunately no one was sitting there and I was just able to reach and grab my bible behind me - good save. Now... the real problem came in the middle of the sermon, which was about marriage and I was getting into it and enjoying it. Then.. I began to have some serious bowel movement... not the kind which you can hold it for some time but one that requires your immediate attention probably because of its particular natural state, most likely caused by having three cups of coffee with generous creamer in less than 30 minutes. I had to allocate over 90% of my concentration to deal with the situation and rest of it for the sermon. Not good. Not good. It's virtually impossible to get up in the middle of the fourth row, sitting in the front area of the sanctuary, excusing about ten people which I hate doing and it's disrespectful to the new pastor who just joined our church staff, decided to stay in my seat and began praying earnestly for God's grace. Oh, the word 'humility' used in 1 Corinthian is consists of two words in Greek: the first word means 'pressing down' and the second word is 'your gut desire.' So the word 'humility' in Greek means pressing down your gut desire. Anyways, by God's grace, I was able to walk briskly, while maintaining my body balance without putting too much unnecessary pressure on my bottom, was able to drive home and take care of the situation immediately. It really was God's grace that required pressing down my gut desire and I was greatly, greatly humbled.

Christian (sounds like I'm talking to myself, since that's also my name), don't they have toilets at your church? I'm glad you got out safely. :)

I absolutely hate feeling this broken. All I've ever wanted and all I still want in life is to be happy but I'm beginning to think happiness isn't for everyone.

I understand how you feel dear. Believe me, I do. We both need prayer.

I just feel so alone. I know everyone says I'm still young etc etc... but I'm tired of doing life on my own. I raised myself from the age of 7. There was nobody in my life I could depend on and at this point I am so lonely...

Sometimes I feel that we, the followers of Christ, are not called to lead a 'normal' life. I have struggled for a long time with various issues but still there is no relief. I hope that God gives you a respite soon. Hang in there! :)

It is Monday today. And Monday means it is time to go to work. I have been working all 7 days for 2 months continuously. My office works from Monday to Saturday 9:30 am to 5:30pm. Then on Sunday I have to go to church. They only have a morning service which is from 9 to 12. Then the youth service from 1:30 to 3. By the time I come home it is 3:30.

God, it really is exhausting working like this for 7 days for 2 months! Oh and I am paid only half of what I must be paid though the work is all the same.

I think...I want my sisters and I to start walking 30 minutes a day. There is a bike path somewhere. We could start using that maybe.
Good for you. I really, really need/want to start walking. I might just start walking up and down my street, or maybe if I'm feeling extra self-conscious, I'll just walk around my backyard. It's medium sized, for being in-town, and it has a tall, wooden privacy fence so I could do whatever I wanted, really.

Someone I know recently got engaged. He's helped out at youth group, and he helped make this video for a lock in we did once. And he said ALL throughout the video, "No purple." (because, you know. Guys are blue. Girls are pink. Together they make purple.) and so, I teasingly told him when he got engaged, that I'm gonna crash his reception and when he has his first dance, I'm gonna yell to him, "No purple!!"

I'll throw the cheese but who's going to catch it? ;)

On a serious note, I too believe I need to get into a pattern of doing some regular exercise. Walking, yes, but maybe also some bike riding.

Ww, sometimes the sticking point is what we think of as happiness. Like, what if someone told me that I could either go to a waterpark, or an antiques shop? Of course I would pick the waterpark. But without knowing ahead of time what would happen there, or who I would meet, or how the day would go... I might have easily made the "wrong" choice.

I think life is like that a lot, in regards to what we strive for. Some people think that marriage will make them happy, or money, or a new job, etc... but after they achieve whatever it was that they were hoping for, they find that they made the "wrong" choice.

Paul talked about being content in whatever situation he was in. I don't think that contentment means that we should just accept wherever we are, without hoping for improvement of any kind. But his joy was internal, and therefore it could not be robbed by outside forces. That kind of joy can make any situation "okay", because it's almost like you're looking past your current circumstances, and seeing things with a wider, more grounded field of vision. This is the kind of joy that I belief will make you truly happy, no matter what's going on in your life. Nobody can take it away from you.

Seek God's will through prayer for every decision you have to make, and try to go where He wants you. Because there is absolutely NO place I could be, nothing I could be doing, that would make me happy if it was outside of God's will. I wouldn't have peace.

I have prayed for you so much, and I will absolutely continue. I would love for you to have the contentment that Paul wrote about, and I will ask God to guide you towards it. Hugs for you, sis. <3
