My sister made a fairly large sculpture of an animal a few years ago. It's displayed at the edge of the parking lot where I work. Recently two different people made interesting comments about it. The first was a professor who works at a nearby college teaching sculpture. Although he didn't directly say so, it was obvious from the words he was using (and the ones he was avoiding using) that he felt it lacked depth.
The second person who mentioned the sculpture was a lady who was quite elderly. She doesn't come here by herself; her daughter shops here and brings her mother along for the ride. I had never even noticed the older lady leaving the vehicle before. However, when they came a week ago, she told me "You know, every time I come here I get out for a minute to look closer at that sculpture! It just makes me feel so happy to see it and touch. She did such a great job making it, and it brings me so much joy!".
