I didn't until I had a roommate in college that was from there.
Yeah jsr1211 knows whats up, lol.
I just generally assume that things like that don't exist because now that I know the city actually exists I might actually visit there one day!

This is why we can't have nice things. lol
that is why they make things such as a map.

I really hate to seem mean about it, but seriously I have to question the future of this nation if people can't read a map. Americans not knowing which state is what, and some not even knowing where the state they live in is on a map.

Maps are for circles...I mean squares lol.
No but in all seriousness, I will tell you that I was always directionally....aloof. that is my nature but, I do like keys on maps. I think keys are fun because I like to know specific things about maps if I read them. But as far as routes and highways and all of that fun stuff Imma say no. no soup for you map.

Well the good news is I think I isolated the cause of my computer problems somewhat. The bad news is there's nothing I can do about it except take it to a shop. The other good news is that my computer is mostly useable, I just have to treat it like a desktop instead of a laptop. On the bright side, at least I still have a computer. I wouldn't be showing my green and rugged avatar around here without one (well I don't show a smiling face around here, just pretty pictures of outdoor things).

Someone mention computer problems? What's wrong cinder? If you have to take it to the shop it must be a hardware problem - anyone can reinstall an OS to solve a software problem.

Sorry... my ears perk up and swivel around like a radar dish when someone mentions computer problems. I'll hush now.

In other news, when you get a tray of sushi it comes with a little lump of green putty - that's wasabi, very hot - and a small mound of something that looks like shredded ham - that's ginger, mildly spicy. I saved that from my meal yesterday because I wanted the taste of sushi, not the taste of spicy. So this morning for breakfast I had a sandwich with black forest ham, mayo, ginger and wasabi on whole wheat bread. This is strange because I don't like hot stuff like peppers. I'm allergic to pain. But wasabi and ginger is a different kind of hot, and I don't mind it. Very good breakfast.

On a related note, my nose is no longer stopped up. Nope, not a bit.

My old 2008 macbook won't recognize its battery. This is a new issue and as I just replaced the battery last year, I don't think it is because the battery has gone bad or anything like that.

So computer won't run from battery, if I run it plugged in but with the battery still installed then it spontaneously shuts itself off 10 or 15 minutes after I turn it on even if I'm using it at the time. If the battery is taken out it seems to work pretty normally. Even when the power cord indicates the battery is charging, it doesn't seem to be charging. Reset the SMC and PRAM multiple times. Found a way to bypass the SMC when I started up the computer and then it stayed on for a while with the battery installed, but still won't charge the battery that way.

My conclusion is that the SMC is having problems with regulating or recognizing the battery. Makes it a pain if I want to travel with the computer, but not much of an issue if I'm just going to let the computer sit on my desk and use it plugged in. I don't have the small screwdrivers and stuff that I'd need to take it apart and try more stuff so I'll either have to take it into the shop that comes well recommend on the expat reviews site or just make due the best I can until I return home in September. Since it is old and I don't know what I'm doing once I get home, it doesn't make much sense to sink a lot of money into it at this point.

Yup. It's official. I killed the rabbit.

Or at least, took away his dinner.

For the third day, that rabbit has gone past my back porch, stretched, and taken several seconds to glance through my sliding glass doors at the yummy, billowing plant that used to sit outside. He looks like he knows exactly what he's doing. And he looks hungry. He stopped and took some nibbles of a plant that's part of the landscaping but I guess they must have have been as tasty.

I kinda feel sorry for the little guy--makes me want to hang a few leaves outside or something.

Out of about 15 different house plants over a 10-month try, only one, count em', one survived, and ironically, I was trying to grow HOUSE plants.

The one that survived was the only one I had outside in a colorful pot on my porch. Because of the cold weather, yes, I have now risked the poor thing's life and *gasp* brought it inside.

The past two afternoons a very forlorn-looking rabbit has been scouting my back porch, stretching, exploring, and looking around.

I have a feeling I took away his dinner. He can see it through the glass but can't get to it. Poor little guy.

How ironic that this one plant survived, even when being turned into a Bunny Buffet.

It's a real place about two hours away from Philadelphia (flithy delphia).

You would be the only other CCer I've ever talked to in PA if you decide to go there. Wait no that's not true. There was one other one in chat once. I'm pretty sure she was a catfish trying to lure me to my death though.

The whole thing was odd. She mentioned she wanted a boyfriend to teach her how to hunt, and got kind of irritated when I didn't indicate any interest in helping solve that problem for her. It could just be me, but I don't know that putting firearms in the hands of a random stranger you met on the internet for 5 minutes is a good strategy if you want to live a long and healthy life.

Just... weird. She then proceeded to say I must be one of those typical crazy people on CC that like cats. I mean, I do like cats, but I'm fairly well adjusted (which is more than I can say for my cats).

Anyways, which college? Lackawanna perhaps? And what major. There are other bible colleges in the area too, a few in Lancaster and Liberty in Philadelphia is supposed to be quite good (although the downside is you're in filthy delphia). Scranton has one thing going for it - it's God's country. I mean wide open expanses for the most part. Lancaster is also quite nice, and it has another thing going for it - It's only an hour from civilization, and there are some really nice Amish folks around there who are honest God fearing Christians who make some excellent food. I'm not sure how good the universities there are as far as the sciences are concerned though, I haven't really looked. Again, it depends on your major.

There are some others in this area for certain specializations like teaching or the arts.

Whaaaat?

I thought you were one of the Ohio CCers. I mean, you're pretty close to the Ohio border, so I guess In a way you still kinda are, but I'd have sworn you were in Ohio.

I'm very close to Ohio and I visit Mentor and Cleveland a lot. But I'm in Erie, home of Presque Isle and snow oh and some really good chicken wings.

If it was me, I'd put the plant back out there for the rabbit. To me its a plant. To the rabbit its a lifeline. Just sayin..

It's like the Garden of Eden, Zero. He has plenty of others to choose from--he doesn't need my one plant!! :p

And it's mine. All mine. I'm holding on to it because like I said, out of about 15, it was the only one to survive. I brought him inside because some of the cold weather had frostbitten an entire section that I had to prune off and I'm trying to preserve him until spring. He is my leafy crown and glory right now! Sadly, in some ways he's like a companion as well.

I've had him since I got here and we've both weathered a lot of storms.

And apparently, hungry rabbits.

Oh ok. I thought it was the only plant he could really eat out there.
