I'm in southwest Missouri. :) Our weather has been so back and forth lately, but that's typical of Missouri. Last Sunday it snowed, this Sunday (tomorrow) the high is 67 and I'm going to a barbecue at a friend's house for dinner.
I spent some time long ago down in forsyth,mo area fishing. I remember I-44 to US-65 south to US-160 east to county road M

Good luck on your college choice and financial aid, lil_Christian. Best advice I'd give is to not wait on the financial aid and to keep up to date on it since they don't seem to clarify on many things if they need more information. Reason why I'm trying to have my semester paid off on my own right now. -sighs-

So, I've had my talks with my mother again. They were rather interesting, too. Went from politics, religion and afterlife, and the events that took place like she was growing up along with how her home life was like. I really wish I met my grandmother (her mom), but unfortunately I wasn't born when most of my grandparents died except for one (my father's mother) and I've only met her once. Barely remember it.

About the whole afterlife thing, my mother believes that people can get to heaven if they are good and to hell if they are bad. Religion doesn't have to be a factor of it even though she grew up to believe and attend to Catholic school. Kind of disappointed even though I wasn't going to dispute her on it.

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath for that one. I'm probably just going to have to get a crapload of loans. It's whatever right now. I want to do this, get a career going. It's also nice that people stop looking at me funny like, well, when are you going to do something with your life? I had a rough year last year...there's NO way I could have survived. At all. I also know I have intelligence, and I have an advantage. I am very analytical. I like helping people and accomplishing things that line up with my morals and feeling like I'm contributing in helping the world. So I feel like I'm going into the right line of work.

I'm going to try to get to bed early tonight. I have to be at church by 9...that, is just torture. Well, getting up that early is. (I know, how will I survive college? We'll see.)

This new baby was born in Tamp Fla at 14.1 lbs! Or 6.4 kg for our friends in Australia who are having to stand upside down.

Well, I didn't invest in college until recently... I didn't think I'd get towards it myself.

You have time to plan on doing what you want. Taking courses that are required for college before going with actual classes for a major (some people I've seen in some classes haven't even decided on a major yet) also gives some more time on it. But I will encourage that if you have the means and determined to get an education, do so. I can understand the social pressure that comes along with people who baby you one day, then the day you turn eighteen it's "Are you doing something or you just going to be a bum all your life?" Haha...

Just wanted to say that I'm really excited for you, and also wanted to offer up a caution to really exhaust all of your options before choosing to borrow money. I had an "it's whatever" kind of attitude about taking out loans when I was a freshman or sophomore, and I really regret thinking that way now. Loans don't mean a ton until you have to start paying them off, and then it really hits you. I'm excited that you are seeing opportunities and feeling led to move forward, though, and I really hope things fall into place for you :)

I'll attempt to get some outside help. But last year every time I tried, it was like, you had to write a 5,000 word essay to get 500 dollars. I don't have that sort of time, and statistically speaking, a lot of these things are pure chance. Though since I'm staying in state, there is one scholarship I could do that could possibly go a long way for me. But I'm not completely sure. And as far as grants go, I'm not sure there's any grants I could take advantage of regarding my major (ex. If I were to go into teaching I can apply for a teach grant). But I do believe the borrower is slave to the lender. I despise it like you wouldn't believe. At the same time, though, with the career path I'm choosing it might not take that long to pay off my debts. It's all a large gamble and nothing is absolute right now in terms of my situation.

Yeah, and especially with college it's hard not to borrow for it, but at least if you're making a calculated decision to borrow it's better than what I did when I basically just thought, "Eh, it doesn't matter, I'll pay it back later." So it's great that you understand that way better than I did when I was at that point in life.

Yes. It doesn't really feel like you're borrowing anything when you are in college on loans, but afterwards...you definitely feel it. I kick myself knowing I could have gone to the college by my hometown for free, but instead I went to a private Christian college for...not free. But I'm not sure if I would trade my experiences there for free college. Life changing stuff.

Good for you, lil, for pursuing this and doing your research. The money can definitely be frustrating, especially when it's like a $350 scholarship, which is still great because it's $350 you don't have to pay, but it's like "You must write a 5,000 essay, write a poem about the economical status of America, and give us the first tooth of your second born child." -_-
