Many of you know that I had weight loss surgery, well it's working and I'm losing weight. I'm so thankful that I'm slowly getting back to the weight I was about 10 years ago. I feel my energy and adventurous spirit coming back too. I am longing to go on long hikes again, it's been far to long. I am so happy. :)
This is a wonderful report. I am happy for you. Enjoy your nature hikes. Drink plenty of fluids too. :)

I've been bitten by a bee, twice. The most recent was just a couple days ago. I went to sit down on my friend's sofa and leapt into the air, shrieking. My friends wife and two girls were sitting across from me, saw my excitement and tried not to laugh. I'm not good with pain. And it was a very small bee, so the stinger was crazy-small and difficult to remove. But far out, did that stinger pump lots of poison into my blood system. Still, the bee sting didn't hurt anything as much as the two inch-ant bites I've had in the past - those are seriously nasty (my whole hand swelled up, big-time) and the extreme pain lasted for hours. The pain lessened after a day or two, but only subsided after almost a week.
I just read another article on terrible Australian creatures (lots of "heck-no-techno" happening) and it didn't mention 2" ants but I guess I shouldn't even be surprised because it's Australia.

Sorry, that should read two inch-ants,, they're a type of soldier. They're called inch-ants because they're an inch-long. There were two of them that bit me. Same time, same finger. Lots of ouchies. Please come to Australia, Rachel. ;)

I don't mind the crocs and the snakes in Australia, but I would freak out if I ever saw a huntsman spider. That thing is huge. And creepy. And creepy. Did I say creepy? :p

The changing of seasons is upon us in my area of Ohio. The atmospheric pressure changes are KILLING MY HEAD. I love the fact everything is thawing out and warming up and such. But seriously. If I never had to deal with these weather related headaches again I'd be ECSTATIC. And yes, I'm being very emphatic right now. It's a side effect of the headache. I like yelling at things or typing in caps.

I need more sleep. >.<

We're not a dangerous country to live in, if you kick out all of the reptiles and creepy crawlies.

Well except now it's 2 inch long ants. Half the size as your original story! Far from the notion you were attacked by hoards of two inch ants! We been run amok, I say. Led astray. Hoodwinked. Bamboozled.

I said, 'two inch-ants'. There were two (2) ants and the species they belonged to were a species of soldier ant called 'inch-ants'. So, :p

Oh, I see, I misread that.

My point still stands. ;)

Yes, the article had a poisonous spider (red back) killing a poisonous snake (brown...?). Also a spider killing a scorpion. Also, jellyfish, and attacking magpies.

I'm sure it's lovely once you get past everything trying to kill you.

I just realized that I haven't worn shorts in public (or in general, really) since elementary school.

Now, see how pale I am, the parts that do see the sun (granted, that doesn't matter much, I don't change color, only burn). Now imagine how white my legs are, no sun, for years.

Not just spiders. There are more than what meets the eye (no pun intended). :p

Spiders are... useful. I always cheer for spiders outside because they eat mosquitoes and I HATE mosquitoes. One year a writing spider (really big spider, black and green, does a zig-zag in the center of the web) set up shop right in front of the porch light. I made sure to leave the porch light on every night to draw a lot of business.

Indoors, spiders get squashed. They belong outside where they can eat mosquitoes.

Well, I'm here, so of course it's lovely.
But seriously. I don't like spiders and snakes etc. either, and I'm still here. So there's a good chance, I'd say 5%, that you would live. ;)
