Corporate inspection today. Everyone at work is going to be strung as tight as a high tension power line. I'm going to try to keep in mind that it's just their nerves talking when I get snapped at, but it might be hard to remember at times.

We have more workers on corporate inspection day than at any other time. I sometimes wonder why they go through this charade. They know perfectly well they are not seeing a normal day at work. We go through it because it means our jobs, but I don't know why they bother.

I've been wondering the same thing when "important people" visit work here.
They should rather slip in a "mysteryshopper" and see what happens

This is a concept which many business owners use in India, to gauge the customer experience. And with good effect, that too. :)

Nah, management might would have to deal with the findings of that mysteryshopper, best not be allowing any sorts of doubt and only send in the corporate inspection divisions well paid suits who will report back everything is ALL GOOD:p

Signs you need a new laptop:

It's 5+ years old.

The cooling fan sounds like a leaf blower, blowing in the distance.

You no longer have a full functioning up arrow key.

The built-in mouse clicker sticks.

It can't handle the content you have on it.

The audio jack is completely loose and therefore if you move the wrong way, the brand new earbuds you've got plugged in won't work properly (but they work great on the tablet I have).

It just really needed to be replaced like, last year, especially since I'm going to college in the fall, but you've always been taught to use something till it can't be revived any longer.
