^Someone brought this to my attention (no one on CC) and said that this came off as whiny and not "attractive."

If this came off as such, it was never my intention. It was a COMPLETE joke and am fully satisfied with my income and what I make. I just figured EVERYONE would be able to relate during this tax season ;)

I never want to come off as "whiny" and "ungrateful." I try to live my life full of thankfulness of what I do have and not to look at things that I do not have.
Don't worry about it I'm waiting for the invention of the iwhiteout!

Very annoyed with Amazon right now. I ordered well over a week ago and my stuff still hasn't been shipped. I understand that you have to have space to move people up in line when they pay for 1 or 2 day shipping (seriously how often do people waste their money like that though) but this is starting to feel more like they're just dragging their feet to force me to pay for shipping if I want any sort or reasonable service. I've seriously considered cancelling the order (it's all stuff I could easily buy in a store but it's also stuff that it really doesn't matter whether I get it now or a week from now), but haven't decided to do that yet either.

In other news, my first resume is submitted. Can't say I really want the job, but I also know it to be my best prospect and that I do need to start living a more normal life and not being on perpetual recovery break forever.

Has anybody had a manicure done before? What do they do in that? My workout involves a lot of heavy weights and as a result I have calluses in my palms. My trainer wants me to go for a manicure to get rid of it. Do you guys have any suggestions? Do men get manicures?
Manicures are great. Got for it. I get them.

I don't have calluses. I have very dry hands and cuticles. My hands tend to crack and bleed. I handle a lot of papers at work and that can cause my hands to be even dryer. Anyway, they basically soak your hands in water to soften them up. Then, they remove (or push back) the cuticles. They remove the dead skin around your fingernails and any calluses. It makes my hands softer and look better.

You can also try the Okeffe's working hands. I use that, and it really helps.

I wish well concerning your job search. I'm currently working, but I'm searching for a better job because I'm underemployed right now. Therefore, I've submitted some resumes myself, so I know what it's like. You pray for me, and I'll pray for you.

Lord:

Please bless Cinder on her job search. Lord you know what she needs better than she does herself. Please open doors for her and give her favor. Please cause her to recognize the doors you open for her and walk through them. In Jesus name, amen.

Did you buy a flash drive? That is the single worst thing I have found to buy on ebay. They recycle failed flash memory, then they tell the flash drive's controller chip to report an insanely large amount of memory. Your computer only knows what the flash drive tells it, so your computer tells you that you have a 500 gigabyte flash drive. But when you start dropping files on that drive, they vanish.

So, I read this and I was processing receipts at my job. As I saw a receipt and was entering it into the software, I noticed that it was a book. And it was "Seeking Allah: Finding Jesus." The ministry I work at bought it for our library (We have a kindle library to teach classes and for interns). I automatically thought of you :)

I've heard that people who get amazon prime (free 2-day shipping on qualified items for $99 a year I think) get compensated for missed 2-day deliveries when they voice a complaint. They either get a $5 or $10 refund or a free month extension of their prime membership. I hear that it happens a lot too so prime could actually end up costing a lot less than $99 a year depending on how often you order and how many times they screw up.

Also, if the order takes longer than the stated delivery date, you could mention that in a review of the product and give them a low rating for it. I was going to do just that on a dutch oven I ordered for my mom because it came like a week after it was supposed to (according to amazon's stated delivery date), but I forgot about it until now..

There really needs to be a course on how to write e-mails in away that people do not take what you write incorrectly.

I got a refund twice from Amazon and both times they told me just to keep the products and not send them back and gave me the refund!

Trust Amazon to be ahead of the game - they know too much about human nature. The fee for Amazon Prime is just so people will feel they are getting something special.

The real reason for prime is because people buy more - lots and LOTS more - when they can get it shipped in two days. There was even an article (I forget where I saw it) about how much more people buy when they have Prime shipping.

Why, then, does Amazon charge for Prime if it is in their interest to offer two day shipping? Because if they just put it out there for everyone for no charge, people wouldn't buy as much. They only buy so much more on Prime because they paid for it and they feel they should use what they paid for.

I heard some good advice once by someone who said if you want to save money you obviously by less stuff, but the things you do buy you spend more money on because it will be better quality and will tend to stay stylish longer.

That's what I always try to do.. save up to buy the highest quality you can afford, and if you can't afford good quality, borrow..

(just kidding about the borrow part....)

Exactly. And for important things - car, washing machine, the stuff you will rely on for as long as possible - you get the best one you can afford. Not the most expensive you can afford, the best.

Everybody has had a painful experience in the recent calamity that struck my city.

One was about a successful manager who was paid a pretty-good salary, owned a car, had a home and yet, was still left stranded. Neither did his credit cards work now was his money accepted. He waited on the roof of his home for the Air Force to drop the relief packets of food and water... just like everybody else.

Another experience was narrated by a friend's friend. His losses included a home where the interior decorations alone were worth USD 500 million, a Rolls Royce, a BMW and an Audi. The murky flood waters ruined his property and his cars and he also, like the rest of us, could do nothing about it. Today, this person is numb towards his riches. In his words (and to quote my friend who shared that with me), "All this is vanity. Christ is coming soon." His wife now drives a small sedan ... without a chauffeur.

I guess we don't realize the value of what we have, until we have lost it.
