That horrifying moment when you blindly choose the only coconut in the box of chocolates you were given. There's no recovering from that.
Oh man. I feel your pain. I mean, the coconuts aren't that bad, but they definitely aren't my favorite. Just think about it as a sacrifice for the good of your later chocolate experiences. That coconut chocolate has already been eaten and you don't have to worry about ever choosing it again. :p

Being sick is the pits. Stomach bug. Can't do anything but lay in bed and try to rest. Maybe make some chicken noodle soup later if I get to feeling a bit better.
Ooph, stomach bugs are the WORST. I hope you can rest and start feeling better soon!

A 3 hour nap and a hot bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup makes me feel almost human again. Almost.

I just renewed my gym membership. I like the gym, but they like to push their personal training.

There are obviously a few scenarios where they could be useful(beginner taking a few sessions to learn the basics, being really overweight, bodybuilding competitively), but for most.. I think personal trainers are a colossal waste of time and money lol. I've done everything on my own and have never felt the need to have one. *shrugs* :p

I just got an email from work announcing the Q1 work outing. They will be doing this thing called a panic room.
Basically, they lock you, and a group, into a room that is filled with puzzles. In order to get out of the room, you must solve the puzzles.
I am not enthusiastic about this prospect at all. I like challenges and excel at them usually, but this doesn't sound like fun to me. It is an artificial entrapment. That alone isn't what bothers me, it is that the expected solution to escape is to solve the puzzles. I'm a very 'out of the box' type thinker. If I were to be locked in one of these 'panic' rooms, I could certainly get out, I have no doubt of that, but I doubt my solutions to the problems would likely fall in the scope of what the creators intended.

So the goal is then not to escape but solve the puzzles, though the stated goal is to escape.

Reminds me of Algebra- You can't just solve it, you need to show how you solved it, and that has to match how you are supposed to solve it.
I didn't like Algebra.

That sounds sort of stressful to me. I wonder if their purpose for this is to train you to work better as a team, to enhance your thinking skills... or just to observe you. Any of those objectives would probably do me in. Ha.

(I thought at first that you were going to be locked into a room full of pizzas. This was puzzling to me, but much more pleasing to think about.) ;)

The problem is that the stated goal is different than the actual goal. It is confining solutions, and forcing you down a specific path, instead of letting you solve it your own way.
Being locked in a room of pizzas sounds like a lot more fun. :D
The stated goal with all of the company outings is to build relationships, and better teams, and interactions with the workers.
Since this is one of those "you don't have to go" but you really do things; I guess I will find out what it is like in a bit. :]
