I don't care that he was gay, he's one of my favorite singers! :p Two of my other favorite singers are gay too... (freddie mercury and barry manilow) I'm kind of suspicious about adam levine, but he is married to a supermodel...
Oh, I was not trying to diss him for his sexual orientation, in case you were thinking that :) I did not know Barry was gay  I am so out of the loop LOL. I liked a lot of what I heard of GM's music...

In honor of your love of Taylor Swift, here she is singing one of
George's best loved songs. It really was his last Christmas...

I refused to believe Barry was gay for decades, but there were always rumors and I think it was earlier this year when he finally came out and married a man. :(

Barry Manilow is an excellent singer with a wonderful voice, but I was a rock/ballad fan, and thought his songs schmaltzy LOL which they kind of are actually :eek:

Well, they do say that schmaltz is in the eye of the beholder.

Which is pretty disgusting if you know what schmaltz originally meant. Chicken or goose grease. :p

Mandy and Copacabana are the two songs I immediately think of when his name comes to mind... I did look up the word "schmaltz" before posting it, and it simply means exaggerated sentimentalism, so it is not as bad as it sounds :D I never did buy any of his music when it was current, though I did like his songs :)

Lynx, I had no idea that was the original meaning

I wonder how it turned from grease into exaggerated sentimentalism, like, what is the association?

A person who might be called a grease ball does not really fit the... sentimental part :)

I've never bought any of his music either lol. But now that I've gotten lonely, old and sentimental, his songs suddenly feel very relevant and gratifying..

I'm pretty sure Adam Levine is gay as a cucumber sammich. His supermodel wife is a beard. I know a beard when I see one - I had two of them myself.

Bruce, you just made my day.....I do that ALL the time. It makes me feel so much better I'm not the only one. Just today I dropped a card off at my guys place and got into my car and started it.....only i dumped my purse out trying to find my keys and couldn't so five minutes of digging I got my spare key and went to put it in the ignition and I already had a key in it lol. I hope that helps you feel better
Haha. Hey, it happens! It is good to know I'm not the only one that does things like that. xD

You have entered The Loop.

Uh... why is a cucumber sandwich gay? I happen to like cucumber sandwiches and I am NOT gay by any definition except the old one of "happy."

Walk trough the valley
I don't like the phrase "God only gives you as much as He knows you can handle."

I don't think it's Biblical, and I don't think it's true.

I have been given many things in my life that I could not handle. I can think of many things that could happen in the future that I know I would not be able to handle. At all.

If I could handle everything, why would I need to run to God? Why would I need to give Him any of that burden if He's only giving me what I can carry on my own?
Find what is missing in this equation, it will make sense. The meaning of He will not let us bear more than we can handle, is the meaning of "My yoke is easy," having taken His yoke implies we don't run to Him for help any more because we live in His presence. "Straight is the Way, narrow is the path and few there be that find it."

I have made a profound observation. If the meal is good enough, you don't need dessert.

I made this observation shortly after eating peanut butter and banana on sourdough bread for breakfast.
