Yesterday I cooked alfredo sauce in a wok.

And it turned out better than when I use a regular flat pan.

I can't help but wonder though... Is cooking an Italian dish in an Asian cooking utensil considered to be politically incorrect?

I've probably managed to insult two cultures with one meal.

Oh SNAP Jim... I love the Olive Garden!! It's great for when I want a change of pace... from the Chinese Buffet. :D

But seeing as I'm neither Italian nor Chinese... I'm just a banana (Asian on the outside, total white girl on the inside) who loves Americanized "ethnicl" food. :)

Update on my prayer request from last week...

Got the results back just now from the biopsy. My body is starting to reject the kidney, so they are having me go to the hospital tomorrow (Sat) and staying til Monday, assuming everything goes well. They suspect it's medication related, which is also what i thought and mentioned to the doctor. So pray that it will resolve easily and can be kept right with medication. Thanks again to everyone.

I'll admit Kim..if I have to go to Olive Garden,I will only eat the breadsticks & salad. I just can't bear to watch them ruin Italian cuisine & I won't be a part of it! lol

Well, yer' a lovely banana no matter what nationality you are...inside & out. :)

a wok? I've never tried that. but that sounds REALLY good right now! i don't worry about culturally acceptable choices, but being a multi-continental mutt, i sort of feel entitled to such things...

years ago in between my new stove being delivered, i had company coming, and i made a classic vodka sauce using the microwave. it was good, but a huge pain, stopping and starting, stirring every every 30 sec or so.

oh, i've also made a mushroom risotto over a campfire. oh, i love risotto. i should make risotto soon. like now.

and i'm not much of a fan of the OG either. but the last time i ate there, the plate of food (and its leftovers) nourished me for 2.5 meals. most restaurant meals seem to be of gargantuan proportions. it's sort of ridiculous.

it sort of annoys me that we as a country seem to think its acceptable to sell people a trough of food and call it a meal, when it should really be called what it is: a day's worth of food on one GIANT plate.

Got another bridal shower cake to make this evening.
I just finished licking the frosting that was left in the bowl. Some kind of buttercream frosting I believe. The food dye turned my tongue blue. Is that normal?

I'm so sorry tourist...but you have Smurfitis. You only have a few weeks before you fully turn into a Smurf and sing really annoying songs.

This seriously sounds like sooo much fun.

Yeah! It was awesome. The children decided to play a Happy Birthday party CD, and then one of my Kindergarten children was singing me happy birthday at the top of her lungs with fits of giggles in between every two words. (Even though it's only half way to my birthday)

Earlier on in the day, the children lined up and took turns as I picked a child up and waltzed around the room barefoot. Then again one does not simply 'waltz' so I began flinging and tossing the children around which had them all overly excited. This lead them to crowd around me squabbling over whose turn it was next, but there's always that ONE child who takes things too far. A little girl grabbed the back of my pants while a child was in my hands and then tried to pull them down, SO we had to have the talk about respecting each other's bodies and about appropriate ways to engage your teacher.

But I made sure to tell each child a reason I was proud of them and to encourage them in a certain area, like, I would literally get in their face, with my serious face, and tell them the wonderful areas I have seen them grow in and that it made me proud and my heart smile. ( I don't know if you'll believe me, but I hold myself very professionally at work, but there is always some point in the day where the 'real' me comes out, the whimsical side that I probably only really feel comfortably showing children)

Then we had sugary goods, and they went crazy. I was crazy because it was Friday, so we had an entire day without looking at anything related to literacy, numeracy, science or the lot. We basically played silly buggers all day. It was good.

And I just thought, we need to celebrate life and the small victories more often. I'm glad I can have that with 4-5 year olds, they are constantly teaching me what it means to live in the moment and to look on with wonder and curiosity, to live a life of honesty and purity. I know at the end of the year they're going to leave me, and I absolutely hate good byes. Good byes are my enemy. It honestly pricks my heart to know that after this I won't be a part of their lives anymore... but at least, at some point in their lives, I held them and we danced, and rejoiced and we grew together. That someone believed in them, even if it was a time when they were very young and probably a memory that would soon be forgotten.

I can never just say, 'I had a good day' and be simple about explaining something. I always go off in tangents. BLAST!
