...maybe some of you chaps should visit some nursing homes and hospitals where quite a few have been incapacitated due to strokes and heart attacks...Once that happens, the persons life is pretty much over...and a carer has to unwrap a sugar bar for them...

...best get used to better alternatives while one can...

...internal fungi and parasites thrive on sugar too..., a number have been found to have fungus in the brain, inhibiting clear and logical thinking - even causing brain damage in some (google it), candida and other numerous dis-eases --- not to mention loads of 'gas and depression'....Now you chaps don't want to be walking around 'full of gas' now do you...?? :D

I don't mean to be insensitive here, but we all die from something. Your body is going to deteriorate as you age, that's just a fact of life. A lot of people in the nursing home would have ended up there anyway without the stroke or heart attack.

Maybe we'll be in a freak car accident tomorrow, who knows...the sugar or lack of sugar in your diet becomes irrelevant
then. That's not to say we should throw in the towel and just eat whatever we want because we'll die anyway, but I've seen the extreme where people are so consumed with counting calories, counting carbs, cutting sugar cold turkey, weighing/measuring themselves that they don't allow themselves to enjoy anything.

...I am involved with Biomedical science; I know the science and chemistry involved...

...I am talking about long-term constant habitual carbs - not sporadic indulgence...now and then...

...the same argument and reasoning you are using was/is used by those that smoke...

...however this info is for those that care about themselves and feel they would benefit from it...

1Co 3:17 If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.
1Co 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.

I am the fine looking chap in the back between Daisy and my good friend Mr. Callaway. But I will tell you God’s truth, God’s truth about myself. I am the son of some very wealthy people; sadly they’re all dead now. I live in all the capitals of Europe collecting jewels, hunting big game, painting a little. Then came the war, old sport. Every ally government gave me a decoration.

Maybe it's just me... but I think it's kind of ironic that apparently what inspired this thread was the fact that you yourself said you gulped down a candy bar in only a few bites and felt sick?

I mean, you ingested a huge amount of sugar in a few seconds and now you're telling us how bad it is? (I'm sure we all know processed sugar is bad for us anyway.)

It's just kind of funny to me :). I know you mean well, Tiger, but yes, that's like smoking a cigarette and then telling us all not to smoke...

So, if there are unhealthy choices out there... are we supposed to use you are our "test subject" and let you go first so you can then tell us how it's going to kill us? :D

...yes....that's exactly right ...and ...yes, I 'erred' and devoured a whole Turkish delight in seconds ... a couple of mouthfuls in fact (due to missing breakfast)... and I felt sick from the overload of sugar;

...however it had the sobering effect of reminding me of the perils of sugar addiction ... (and that Cadbury's overloads their products with sugar ...)

...so I used this scenario to bring good out of it and warn others of the dangers of ongoing hi-carb lifestyles...so that at least someone benefits from my unfortunate experience...:)

...so you benefited from my experience now, and it was not a total loss... - so in a way I actually 'suffered' for you...:D

I see a new set of Christian marketing wristbands in the near future...

WJES???

Would Jesus Eat Sugar????

Hmm.

Curiosity would get the best of me, I admit.

Because while I was at it, I would also ask Him if He eats Devil's Food cake.
Or what about deviled eggs? :O

Some coversion from the good carbs brown rice with lentils helps promote an even blood sugar flow, I love rye cracker breads not sure you get then there? Ryebread as it is identified in the body as a protein awesome stuff. But you are right direct sugar or sugary things are bad, and the worst is the more you have the more you crave.

I recently read a book what would Jesus eat, good reading.

Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm." John 18:6

I was addicted to diet coke. People laugh at that but I really was. I went cold turkey about a year and a half ago and I went through withdrawals. It was awful I haven't had one since that time nor do I desire too. Aspartame is poison and she be avoided. I do use Stevie sometime in iced tea and I've gotten used to and like plain iced tea. I'm glad I kicked that habit it's awful.

I drink tons of diet coke and know all the stuff they say about how it turns into formaldehide in your system (which can't happen unless your body operates at over 200 degrees farenheit), makes you blind, makes you crave more food, etc.. but its all bunk. The chemicals in diet soda aren't any worse than the chemicals in hot dogs or cold cuts or frozen dinners, etc.. diet sodas just get more media coverage because so many people consume it.

All processed food is scrappy, you're right Zero. When people told me about the formaldehyde I would say, well when I'm dead they should discount my funeral because already have it in me. Although I want my remains to be cremated.

LOL i thought the exact same thing about the formaldahyde. You wanna know what though, there is this testimony about this man in africa who was a christian and he died in a car accident and was already embalmed when he woke up 3 days later after people prayed for him under the altar of his church (this was done according to instructions that he had given before he died i think). Anyway, the interesting part is that they say he smelled strongly of formaldahyde for days because it was actually coming out from his pores. Creepy yes, but there was a tv program about it and the doctor who declared him dead at the hospital and the caretaker who embalmed him gave their testimony.
