Just one other thought, Violet.

If by some chance you DO find your crush here... and he goes by the name "Passing-Wind"... Uh... Well.

Just make sure you know the reason why... BEFORE you ask him out.

You might need to bring a fan. And preferably a high-powered one at that.
Hahahaha hahahaha

*takes a breath*

Hahahahahahahaha

Dude! We're still waiting to hear about your special lady. ;)
Good point!

Well her parents know, as do mine, and we've decided on June (so no May now).

Bonfire instead of a boring rehearsal dinner, and a wedding at her home church. I like the church too, so yay!

We're waiting to make a formal announcement until I find a ring. It's really hard to find rubies brother! Many of them are filled with leaded glass to enhance their color, and they can fall apart under things like lemon juice. Still others are synthetic fakes.

So far, here's the skinny:
- There are apparently filters that you can buy that can detect rubies with leaded glass
- You should look for inclusions (imperfections) in the ruby under a loupe
- The color of the ruby determines the price more than the inclusions do (unlike with a diamond)
- There is no GIA grading system for rubies. None!

Basically, you find a merchant, you buy a ring, and then you send it to a lab to be tested. How romantic!

I really really really want to find the ring within a set timeframe that she doesn't know. This involves her going shopping with me at least once, and also me finding time to determine a merchant.

Did you forget? I raised two sons and presently have 4 grandsons. It's not unusual for them to compete. And Grandmom is always entertained by it. Sooo... it wouldn't be an issue. ;)

Servant, I am immensely happy for you.

However.

Now all the prisoners (er... residents) dwelling at my Man Cave (the cave where I keep men, of course) are asking if there Life Outside The Dungeon.

I keep telling them no, absolutely not. Somehow I don't think they believe me.

Maybe if I mention that it would involve shopping... they'd all pipe down and quit complaining. :p

Violet, this can only mean one thing.

You have WAY more than one fan. How else could you have survived this long?

I'm guessing you must have an arsenal that outnumbers Qui Shi Huang's Terracotta Army.

As for the date with Mr. Passing-Wind... In-My-Hair... I think you're good to go.

Yes, expensive shopping. Very expensive. Like a down payment on a car expensive.

And if you move at a lightning pace, you're either very sure or you'll lose an expensive piece of jewelry. Oh well! Ready fire aim!

If the relationship survives picking out the ring, it's the one. I'm kidding!

Honestly it's a lot more work to go with a ruby than with diamonds.

Hopefully he picks me up on his horse. :)

The actor who plays "Wind-In-His-Hair" is a cousin of a childhood friend. Yeah, he's really beautiful in person too.

I just read this response by itself and some context would help me to understand a tad better.

:p
Roh is my supervillan nemesis, so I'm confident he is trying to trick me into my ultimate demise. I however do not consider making me permanently non-existent a satisfactory solution to my existential crisis. As for the rest of it, well my not a real boy comment was sparked by tin tin's assertion that all of the CC ladies were secretly male. And that's how things escalate here at CC. Now all I'm certain of is that my innards are staying on the inside of me. And though I'm not sure if it's a crush or not, these days limes are my main squeeze. And yes that's as juicy as it sounds.
Cinder missed another part to this story. BUT, I am not surprised that she did.. considering that she always misses one thing or the other. Anyway, I digress...

Once on CC Singles Chat, Siberian came in with some issue. Cinder proceeded to dissect him in order to arrive at the "heart" of the problem (I made a pun, get it?). The dissection was so gut-wrenching (I made another pun, get it?) that it left Siberian with a permanent scar (That's not a pun). Hence, I was asking Cinder to get on the same table so that I can perform the dissection on her, for a change. :p

Wow! I can imagine!

Around here there's no such thing, though some people are beginning to use the ring thing because of hollywood movies...

When we get engaged, we just use the wedding bands on the ring finger of your right hand! Both guy and girl! :) No diamond ring and such!

Huahuahua!! Actually Galahad is from the arthurian tales, but since the guy is always on the forum, it came to mind!! :D AS for the rest... I'm a Tolkien freak... so... that's not impressive... that's actually (and I'm quite sure of that) almost a disease... hehehehehe

Maybe when I finally get to go to Middle-earth, I mean, New Zealand, it will fade a bit.... or get worse... oh well... I'll have to wait and see.... :D

Huahuahuahuahua!!

Shine!! You are awesome!! And you're the queen of cool!!! :D

I'm just a mere subject!!! :)

Carol, the thing is Galahad could be Tolkien-related, because Tolkien did write a translation of Arthurian legends (I can't remember the title). And yes, the CC member by the same name may have jogged your memory, but it's still impressive. I'm sure you'll love Middle-earth!
