Hey Everyone!!

What was your favorite game when you were kid? At home? At school? Maybe something made up between you and your family?

Some of my favorite memories were rare rainy afternoons where my family could sit down and play Monopoly, in which the goal was, "Someone Always Has To Try To Beat Dad." It rarely happened, but I remember my Mom cheering the one day I realized I had amassed the biggest pile of deeds, buildings, and colored cash.

And, as you can tell, I was also a fan of the ever-charming "Duck, Duck, Goose." Having said that, I'm not going to start pointing fingers at who is a duck... and who is a goose :). (So would a hybrid clone be called a "Doose"? Or perhaps a "G'Duck"?)

I'm not sure why but in my opinion, this game was never played enough at school. For some reason, people always seemed to favor things like dodgeball... (I guess some kids don't think a game is fun unless other kids are being pelted with something.)

How about yourself? What kinds of games did you love when you were little... or maybe even now that you're not so little. :D

Oh, my...I could write about my favorite games all night :D. My brothers, cousins, and I used to play lots of games like hide and seek, police and thief, tag ,etc I loved them all!
One of my all time favorites was something we called ''La Gallinita Ciega''( Blind Chicken). We would play in a bedroom, one of us would be the blind chicken, and that person was to be blindfolded and had to count to a certain number till everyone else found a place to hide. Then he would start looking for us while we were hiding, and if he touched someone he would have to guess who that person was. It was so fun :) don't tell anyone but I could always see through the blindfold .

We would also play Superheroes. When I was like 6 I used to be Kimberly the pink Power Ranger all the time :D, while my brother was the red one. Sometimes I was wonderwoman and my brothers were Batman and Robin. We would tie towels around our necks pretending to be our capes. We were such dorks. Actually I wasnt...my oldest one was though because while I was only 6 he was 18 years old haha.

We were also gamers. Videogames like Mario Kart, All the Mario games, 007, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighters, Smash Brothers, Zelda, etc were part of my childhood. I was often tricked by my brothers since I was the youngest one. They would give me a controller that wasn't plugged in and the poor little me would think that I was playing . Good thing is, I grew up and I stopped falling for it. Good memories :).

I played a Ton of Kickball, 2 hand touch football, freeze tag, Bump*, and loads of card games. Egyptian Rat Screw was my favorite for a long time.

In the Navy we played a lot of games to pass the time. We invented one that was always fun.

The object of the game was to have 3-8 people go around in a circle and spell a word, without finishing it. If you finish a word, you get a strike but if You add a letter that doesn't make a word you get a strike too.

So the first person would start like with an "S"

The Second would say "T"

The third would say "R"

Now each person wants to push the word in a way that means that it will end somewhere else in the rotation. So far it STR... The fourth person will get a strike for choosing a letter like "X" But can push the game forward by picking an "I" or an "A" but if he wants it to be short after him something like an O or a U would make the word considerably shorter in possibilities.

If anyone after him turns the word into something longer like STRANGULATION it might come back and land on him, giving him a strike.

3 strikes and a player is out. The game ends when there is only one player remaining.

Those are like the most complex game rules I ever heard lol.

I played Dungeons and Dragons with some friends but it was always boring or stupid. I spent most of my free time riding my bike or talking with friends, or watching tv. I was more into karate, drawing, playing drums, building model airplanes, etc..

Liamson--I'd love to learn the game you spoke about. Right after I get my Ph.D. so that I can understand all the rules... :D

DodgeBall.. What else?
(DUCK.) As stated in the original post, some kids seem to think a game is fun only if other kids are being pelted with something. What's up with that!!?? (DUCK.) Can't we just be happy with simple, sweet games with name violence?

GOOSE!! (Can anyone tell that I was obviously one of the pelt-ees and not one of the pelt-ers?)

Oddly enough that game sounds quite entertaining. Have you pitched it to milton bradley?

I had a former boss with whom I used to exchange all kinds of "mock insults" (just teasing) and he always used to say, "Kimmie, you gots no game!!"

To which I would always reply, "I've got more game than Milton Bradley AND Parker Brothers combined!!"

Not really :D but hey, I was trying to put up a good front. :)

Me and my sister used to pretend that all the white cars on the road were cops. If you didn't duck down in time then the police saw you and took you to jail.
