Hey Everyone,

This is serious business.

The following CC members are OBVIOUSLY BAD INFLUENCES and EXTREME CAUTION should be taken when interacting with ANY of them at ALL times:

1. @Mem mentioned a set of adorable, microwavable plush animals in another thread. Because of her, I am now thinking about saving up and buying one for myself for Christmas -- and I'm torn between The Fox, The Sheep, and, most troubling of all, The Chicken. I DON'T EVEN LIKE CHICKENS!!! Obviously, Mem is a bad influence!

2. @Snackersmom is always writing compassionate, insightful responses to people here. She puts her whole heart into her writing, and her gentle answers often stop me in my tracks when I think of something more harsh I want to say. Snackers is one of the brave few who actually keeps me in line, just by her grace-filled examples. Obviously, Snackers is a bad influence!

3. Over the years, we've had a lot of posters who write opinions that are very pro-one gender, while putting down the other. @Subhumanoidal makes some of the most reasonable, balanced answers to these posts that I have ever read. He does this well in response to a lot of others we've seen with black-and-white thinking as well, and his posts often have me contemplating how to better balance my own answers, too. Obviously, Sub is a bad influence!

4. I have often observed @Cameron143 answering posts with more patience and grace in a single reply to some posts than I have probably shown in all my time on this forum. He has me thinking a lot about how to work harder at understanding the other person's point of view, and how to answer with encouragement rather than criticism. i've also heard he has impeccable strategy when it comes to Pillow Fights! Obviously, Cameron is a bad influence!

5. @Susanna has gone through a lot of trying times in her life, but she is unabashedly and geninely herself as she strives to serve both God and her fellow humankind. She often has me thinking about how to be more authentic and less afraid of what people might think. Obviously, Susanna is a bad influence!

6. @TabinRivCA and @Tall_Timbers are always here welcoming and greeting newcomers, making sure they know they can have a place here. I often wonder if I should follow their example and do less thread writing and more greeting. (I'm praying God will help me balance that out.) But it's been their own examples that have gotten me thinking about this. Obviously, they are both a bad influence!

7. Those of use who have met @RodB651 can't stop crowing about his Ninja Burger Skills. My stomach loves his cooking, but every pair of pants I own hopes I'll never see him again! More than that, Rod encourages us in our small group chat no matter what questions or controversial things we might say. He'll always tell us, "You're looking for answers, and that's ok!" What's that??!! Encouraging independent thinking WITHOUT immediate criticism or harsh put-downs??!!! Most obviously, Rod is a VERY bad influence!!!

This of course, is just the tip of the iceberg.

* Who do YOU think are BAD INFLUENCES here on CC -- and WHY?

As you've probably noticed, the purpose/twist of this thread is to show a bit of "sarcastic support." :D The answers should be edifying and encouraging, not evil! This might get interesting if we get a few people who only read the title and not this first post. :)

And if you can't think of anyone else to claim is a BAD INFLUENCE here, feel free to take pot shots at me! :D Shoot, I'd almost feel offended by now if people didn't see ME as a bad influence.

Before I sign off, of course I have to mention @Lynx and @cinder as "The Original" bad influences here. Not only do they make me think, but they often say exactly what I wanted to say -- all in one paragraph, as opposed to my 20 pages.

They also help me "round out" my ideas for many of these threads. I often say, "Hey guys, I need a word that means ___________ and starts with the letter __." Yesterday Cinder told me, "There is such a thing as an online thesaurus, you know," :p, but personally...

I'd much rather those two ping-pong all their ideas back and forth!

* And, how could I not mention the Original Bad Influence himself, @Oncefallen. While sightings of our fearless leader might be scarce and precious, sometimes when he graces the Singles forum with a post -- it's often with some kind of joke aimed at Lynx -- and it's far better and beyond anything I could have ever come up with. :D

Hmm. I'm thinking, this is the ONE EXCEPTION on this list -- obviously, @Oncefallen is a very, VERY GOOD INFLUENCE -- when it comes to keeping The Cat in line. :D

How about you? Who do you think is a bad influence on the forum -- and why? :)
"This might get interesting if we get a few people who only read the title and not this first post. :)"

That was the clincher, made me howl with laughter so loudly, any neighbours who were still asleep ain't any longer.

Bookmarked and will be one of my goto threads when feeling under the emotional weather. Blessings, cheers and all that's good to you for now seoulsearch :D

seoul is a major bad influence. She inspires people to make long threads, but they don't have any practice with actually putting the thought she has put into them, so we have a lot of long empty threads.
True dat, only met seoul yesterday but already feel qualified to agree with you.

I’m a bad influencer because I want to be.
Bless and hugs for that, you definitely look the sort i'd go miles out of my way to avoid on a dark night!

Off for my morning online chess session, wondering if anyone visiting this thread might be interested in forming an online Christian Chess team here?

Please don't clutter up this thread with possible replies, either reply to my profile, one of my own threads, or comments if it's on a busy thread where it probably won't disrupt the flow. :)

Howdy and welcome to the Hangout part of the forum.

We have a conspiracy theory part, a Bible argument part, but the singles forum has evolved into the default chill place where people hang out and chat about just whatever.

And don't worry about cluttering up the thread. Thread derails are par for the course here. We eventually get back on track. Usually. A thread can go from video games to cars to chocolate to potato chips, but we will always get back to the topic. Someday.

Mmmmm... Now I just made myself hungry for some chocolate potato chips...

Welcome aboard, @LifelongLearner!

We're glad you stopped by!

There's a kind of regular group of us who often post in here Singles and also the Family Forum. I was posting in Miscellaneous for a while, but since that seems to be more about political topics now, didn't want to interrupt the flow.

So if you don't see any new threads here, hop on over to Family if you wish! :) I'm so glad you found this thread to be humorous. We talk about serious topics as well, but often like to keep things light-hearted since people already have so many heavy things to deal with.

Hope to see more of your posts in the future. :)

Mostly jelly filled, lemon filled, custard filled. No sprinkles. I don't do those.
I'm not sure we have room in this thread for an anti-sprinkler... Talk about a bad influence!

I mean, look how pretty they are!!

Actually...

As I've gotten older, I don't really like sprinkles as much either, or those crunchy little round things:

1729174342309.jpeg

I've found that in my advanced age, texture has become a big thing to me -- and I like my donut texture to be "pure" (soft and doughy,) not covered in little bits that crunch and grit like pieces of sand.

I'm sure that having to puree all my food can't be far behind. :sneaky:

Judging by my own fine culinary tastes sprinkles would be consigned to the Lake of Fire list.

Cheers and hugs for the lovely welcome Lynx, i'm a newbie Christian but i don't see owt in the Bible that says you can't have fun. Ooh! Chose to not visit the singles forum but sounds like somewhere i'd love and maybe even find members for a chess team.

Not a Conspiracy Theorist.jpeg

Have no idea why you think i might be interested in conspiracy theories, The Winner Is....png
however, personally think if conspiracy theories exist, it's because conspiracies do. ;)

Weekend coming up but know i'll check out your recommendations very soon, blessings and all that's good for now :D

Really glad i stopped by as well, i might be old and a bit of a boffin but love some fun too. Pretty into the global political scene myself so Misc. is another thread i'll probably find interesting. And yep! Might even find a chess lover or two, taught myself to play about 20 years ago and i am a really good, natural player. However, online chess sites have been taken over by people who use engines to cheat, so i've had to switch to 3 minute games so they don't have the time to cheat. Would love to get a good Christian chess playing team together, then go forth and put the fear of God into them :p

Definitely will have a good look through your threads seoulsearch, some very interesting to me people comment on your threads. Sure i'll come across some great debates and hope to participate in some too but think we need to at least try to see the funny side of life too. There's plenty to find for sure.

So glad you commented on my profile and thread, God's blessings and hugs for now :)

We've been making a bit of a shift to the Singles forum (suggested by another lovely married CC member) so that our married friends don't have to feel like they are crossing lines to participate in all the mischief!

We also have some awesome people here who started out in Singles when they joined the site, met someone lovely and got married, but have managed to still be friends with those of us who are still single.

Single life and all it entails isn't so much what's on my mind these days, but rather the people who are caretakers, looking after family and those with special needs, or are flat-out just having a really long, exhausting day -- and need a bit of a pick-me-up here in the threads. :)

Thank you so much for participating!

I once played chess, but I never was good at it.

The only thing I really remember from those days is, I knew this one guy who liked to play battle chess but he moved his queen way too much so it was easy to defeat him. He said he liked battle chess because, "her hips wiggle when she walks."

He said my problem was I didn't like to sacrifice pawns. It seemed unfair that everybody else was able to pick on them. I loved it when I was able to take a bishop with a pawn, and the little pawn rammed his pike right up...

Yeah, there were issues playing battle chess. Best to stick to regular chess pieces.

Yep, sugar coated grits of sand. Yucko.
