ok well. me and zero had this talk about him being sexist before... to be honest i agree with CarlyB first because of the CONTEXT of where shes putting it, which is to put christ first above all else, and im sure Zero agrees in that context as well,

However, taking it away from the context, zero is trying to show how that statement could be written better, and hes not saying that Carly is sexist, i think now were just discussing on how it could have been written better, and how easily sexism can be incorporated with christians, hes trying to make it a more neutral term for all, otherwise some people might take the quote the wrong way,

But as ive stated countless times earlier in this, I agree with you Kayla_rose and CarlyB, so i think were all just misinterpreting things a little, i know ive been guilty of that, but yes we can all agree that in a christians life (male or female), the priority first should be Christ, because when we make him our first priority, he will provide the desires of our hearts, not on our time, but when he sees it best and he gets all the glory :)

I think I might have to start my own thread about why I am against this quote because people seem to think I'm just this sexist jerk who "just doesn't like it".

See my avatar? thats how I feel about this thread.

I'll tell you another reason why I don't particularly like this quote. Because it is all about pride. Its like a woman saying "My dedication to following Christ is so great that my heart is actually hidden deep inside Christ." Who can really boast about their faith like that?? I don't even think the apostles would say something like that. Jesus was not about pride. He was about humility and suffering and serving others.
Hi ZeroT,
My sentiments exactly. I'm with you all the way. - J

i dont think your a sexist jerk anymore :p, haha i dunno what happened to my long speal,. however we can see in corinthians how we are to place God above all else, i mean we are not to be unequally yoked ( i know that your not saying that zero ). the quote can be taken sexist, OUTSIDE of the context of what Carly is meaning, HOW carly is meaning it, is just and the right way of thinking, and it is biblical to place God above all else, jesus said that we must hate ( love less than) our father, mother, spouse, siblings, even our own children to follow him .... so it very much is biblical to place christ first in all things, and God the Father will give us the desires of our hearts, we must always be pursuing him tho, we take our eyes off him and we can fall back into sinful lifestyle, and even be deceived easily by people who appear to be Godly, but when it gets down to the nitty gritty they arent, and when you have the ring around your finger you just cant up and divorce them either....

but Zero i agree your not sexist, i agree that the quote could be written in a more neutral way, however the quote is directed towards women,... soo if it helps teenage girls and women raise their standards from dating dead beat boys, who just use them and hurt them, im all for that
