k thats getting a little sexist there bud, like whatever someones position is on this (like or hate), this is how the person feels, and she is putting it in the context of that christ should come first...

these threads are just getting a little out of context.
Ok so I'm being sexist because I simply pointed to the plain-as-day 100% fact that it is speaking of women only? So its not the author who is sexist, instead its me, the guy who is just pointing out what the author wrote?? Ok dude! If you say so, dude.

"A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man has to seek Him first to find her." -- Maya Angelou
If you keep your focus on the Lord, everything else will fall into place.

i have seen that before and found it soo beautiful:) in Christ our hearts are like a treasure, that's what all men really seek and Christ is the only way that leads to it

amen Karine, my uncles testimony of how he met his wife was pretty interesting, hes been a christian his whole life, and he prayed for a year for a wife, he then said "lord if i have to wait 50 years for her i will, because you have whats best for me", 6 months later he met my aunt :), married at the age of 22 i think or 23 :), i want to be like my uncle in the sense of putting christ first above all else, because he provides all and knows what is best for me, a wife might not be in the deck of cards for me and i have to accept that. but im still praying haha :p

I actually put up a fight and broke free from the multitudes that swamp my soul a couple of years ago and actually got to feel love. It was wonderfull, but now its back to the same old robbed state that I have had to live with most of my life. I know I'm suppose to love my enemy, but its hard to know if you actually do or not.

Who's fighting? You labeled me a sexist and so I had to say something. As far as this ridiculous quote, I really don't care anymore about it. If women want to think this quote is something to live by, let them. I'm just trying to tell them that its going to leave them alone and frustrated, but hey I really don't care anymore.

Anyone want some fries?

I like this quote and surprisingly I think I might have only seen it once before. I agree with it 100% and I think it can be taken from a female or a male point of view so it shouldnt be seen as sexist at all, I think it can apply to both sexes :)

taken away from the context of how carly is meaning it, it is a sexist comment ( was talking with a friend about it), so i do see where zero turbulence is talking about it in that way, but in the context of how carly is meaning she has the right idea, of making christ the main focus, and everything else will fall into place...

and Zero i didnt label you a sexist, i just said the statement you yourself was saying was sexist, much like how you say the quote is, and by just looking at the quote im finding it to be as well, so im agreeing here as well, but i also see where carly's heart is when she posted this quote so i know shes not being sexist in it

I agree Zero - you would never see a quote saying "A man's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a woman should have to seek Christ first to find him".

I just think there are much better quotes than this - ones that actually come from the bible. Because this quote implies that a man should seek Christ not for his own salvation but for the purpose of getting that Christian girl he's got his eye on.

I agree Zero - the quote is annoying and overused. It appears everywhere and should be destroyed.

But I have other reasons for disliking it. It creates the impression that women are holy and men are sinful, women are perfect and men are pagans, and when a man wants to date a Christian woman he needs to get involved with Christianity. Like in the movies, where a guy starts going to church so he can get with a girl that he's keen on. He needs to first pursue Christ so he can get the girl. Lovely sentiment.

Then again, I could be looking into it too much. I imagine this annoying quote has encouraged countless numbers of teenage girls not to settle for a bad boy or get involved with drugs and sex. I just wish I didn't have to hear and read this quote so much.
Okay guys, I'll tell you why I don't care too much for this statement. As a woman it makes me feel like if I am merely thinking about a man finding me or meeting someone, then I am not "holy" enuf. And that I wont get anyone because I want it and instead I should only sit around all day thinking about God.
