I have experience in both sides of this issue.

I was more than 50 pounds over weight when I met my husband and gained more weight during the marriage. He loved me regardless but his mother was probably 200 pounds overweight. I was small in comparison. I have since lost 95 pounds from my highest weight.

My husband was about 100 pounds over weight the time of his death. The died due to high blood pressure. He wasn't yet 40.

Having said that, if someone asked me to lose that kind of weight by a certain date, I don't think I'd want to date them. I'd always be scared to enjoy a meal. I can't imagine he would be polite come the holidays or special occasions.
