A lot of people can't control what their bodies look like. And I never said that it did bother me. I'm speqking from what I've seen from non Christians and Christians alike. I didn't start this thread. I, like, just contributed.
you said women pick guys with 6-packs over chubby guys. if you cant go to the gym and work on fixing that its your own fault.

So we're not allowed to apply what we learn then? Way to exaggerate.
im saying your one class isnt necessarily the truth. especially for something as flimsy as beauty preferences

If all a woman has to offer is her looks then she isn't wife material. A good man will look beyond the physical beauty of a woman. And if a woman thinks she isn't attractive enough to have a man then she needs to work on her self confidence before entering a relationship in the first place. I was insecure for many many years. When I let my insecurity go is when I found love. Cheesey? Yes but true.
People think that just goes for women but it applies to women and men.

Yes but since this thread is centered around women I kept it on women. Yes, it goes both ways.

Im father murdered my mother and brain demaged my brother until hes been bed bound for 10 years. I was a single carer and 400 pounds eating myself to death. Also my body reacts to the torture of my childhood by my hair falling out often. Its called stress induced alopecia. So basically I have no hair.

5 years ago I got sick. Very sick. God showed me that to gain comfort from anything but Him was a road leading to death. He showed me my identity in Him and said He was going to take away every yoke and shackle the world had put on me. I lost over 200 and something pounds. And became a wig model for a medical practice. God changed my life. But it began with him changing my heart.

If I have any beauty..its the God of my salvation within me. I also found love that also changed my life.

It basically went off on what you said how we are all biologically programmed to know what attractive is. You said you agreed with it. So I don't know why you're bringing up this post.

I always find movies and stories about this subject to be quite fascinating.

In "Surrogate" with Bruce Willis, everyone can choose a synthetic surrogate human body controlled by their own minds to represent themselves in everyday life so no one knows what you truly look like (as we all sit here behind our screens... you have to think we're not very far off from that.) You could choose whatever race, gender, age, or interpretation of "beauty" as you saw fit. Everyone choose surrogates that were the most attractive. But an interesting thing happened during the movie. Bruce Willis's character wants to interact with his WIFE, not her surrogate (which is all she lets him see), and he comes to a point where he longs for "the woman behind the door" (seeing as she stays locked up in her room)--wrinkles, scars, flaws, and all, instead of the perfect presentation she refuses to get go of.

On an episode of the unfortunately cancelled television show "Almost Human", there is a strain of human beings known as "Chromes" that are supposed to have been genetically engineered perfection. Every "box" is checked and such humans are genetically designed without flaws and at the top of their game, from intelligence to beauty. In this particular storyline, a Chrome boy falls in love with a "Natural"--a girl without any genetic engineering, which is seen as being someone inferior and meant for low-class work.

Regarding his attraction to her, the boy says, "When you're surrounded by perfection, you come to appreciate the beauty in flaws," which I thought was a very profound statement.

I love little quirks like a crooked tooth, sprinklings of freckles, scars that tell a story, a walk that isn't quite balanced, etc. While I agree that society is definitely very choosy and prejudiced in what it considers to be attractive or not, I'm sure that what God finds beautiful has a much wider scope than we could ever imagine. (I see this myself as I've moved to different areas of the country and am blown away by how unique each landscape is. Sometimes I find it hard to compare the beauty of a forest full of trees, especially when the leaves have changed color in the fall, to something like a patch of barren desert, but God must see it all as beautiful. I'm sure He feels all that much more about human beings as well... though I know it's hard. God finds us all beautiful, but it often seems very few other people do.)

Wow, WaterLily. I had no idea. No doubt about it, you have a beautiful soul, that's evidenced in your activity on CC. God really does transform us into something beautiful, if we let Him. Without Him we are and have nothing. With Him we are and have everything. God living in and working through a person, that's seriously attractive. Thank you for sharing your story, my dear sister. :)

Thank you brother. That touched me deeply. I love your posts and I too wish you and your precious gal all the very best.

Life isnt always easy. But its not the events that bring us to our knees that matter its the glorious king in whom we kneel before that counts. He is sufficient in every way.
Amen

Nice to see people take truth and exaggerate with it
And your comment about women
preferinh a 6 pack wasn't exaggerating? You're speaking from a perspective of what society determines is beautiful. The bible described what beauty is and it doesn't involve a membership to the gym.
Nautilus made a good point earlier though. He stated god wants us to take care of our bodies. That doesnt
mean a body builder. Some on who takes care if themselves physically is a better thing than someone who doesn't care at all. Everyone is built differently as well. Not all women are an hourglass figure and not all men have an athletic build. We should just be happy with what we have and take care of it. It's the only body we get.

Our bodies are temples and we are to take care of it. So that doesn't mean lying in bed eating a bag of chips watching Depserate Housewives or the football game. But God doesn't make every single guy toned. Nor does he make every single woman skinny. To put it simply, women are more attracted to guys who are in shape. And vice versa. So we're going to knock on all the ones who aren't and are just going to ignore them and not give them the same chance as others? We are all equal in God's eyes and need to love like He does.

Where did I say anything about knocking on anyone about their looks?

You didn't. One can do all they can to be healthy and still not be physically fit though. That's what I was referring to. It's a temple but not all who take care of it does is actually show.

Attractive means something different for everyone....
For me, it starts with the heart.
Then the smile, then the eyes.

The heart because then you know how genuine they are
The smile because you know if they are a happy, soft caring person
And the eyes because you can see straight through someones eyes and learn a lot about them

Its all about their character...

Looks are a bonus haha
Ella, we think so alike sometimes it scared me. O_O
