Ah, Christmas.

I spent the day hand-scrubbing my Mom's massive wooden floor (at her request) and eating frozen dinners. In my family, holidays are a great time to get more work done.

One of these days, I'm going to crash someone ELSE'S Christmas, and we're going to feast on homemade food and drink hot cocoa by a fire and watch the snow fall down and go on a sleigh ride... and we're going to turn it into a 3-day party... One of these years I'm determined to have an EPIC Christmas that lasts more than just a day or an hour. But I just keep telling myself, "Maybe next year..."

On the bright side, after all the work was done, we went to drive around and look at people's Christmas light displays, which is one of my very favorite holiday things to do. :)

I can't wait for New Year's. I'll probably be mopping.
SS..you are officially invited to my polish christmas next yr...I can meet all your demands except for the snow.
or you could come to my place next Christmas. It's an apartment, so all you'd really have to do is vacuum. I'm about an hour's drive to the snow.

That seems like a fair trade: I'll drive to the snow, you get to pull the sleigh. It'll be fun!!

I can just see it now as I'm explaining this to everyone...

Me: "I'm a goin' to have me a Pollock Christmas!!"

Friends and Family: "You mean you're having fish for Christmas dinner??!!"

Me: "Nope!!! I've been invited to a Polish Family Reunion..." :D

I can't wait to crash your party, Chick!! Er... I mean... (I'm glad I have an invitation.)

This reminds me of the time when an African-American co-worker invited me to Thanksgiving one year. But it came with a warning: "I have to tell you right now," she said, "my family is straight-from-the-hood ghetto, and you'll have to watch out for my aunt especially because she's going to call you a (slang term for African Americans.) Don't worry. She calls everyone that. And, she's also going to call you (a slang name for lesbians.) But don't take it personally. She says that to all the home girls."

Something came up so that I couldn't go (maybe I was helping my Mom vacuum, I can't remember) but man, I wish I could have because that would have been one hee haw of an unforgettable Thanksgiving. To my knowledge, no one has ever called me either of those things, and at this party I'd be dubbed both at the same time!!! :D

I like efficiency... Not to mention crossing racial boundaries.

I have a strong feeling this is why Catherder is single.

When he says, "Let's play 'Reindeer'"...

He ain't playin'.
