I did work with a guy who called me "Double A-Ron". I didn't care about that either.

Double (AY) Ron?

That totally sounds like a bra size...

Sorry, Nuke. You know I had to say it! ;)

My name is Misty Dawn. I am not a stripper and I am not a hippie. I like my name... it's very different. Every once in a while someone calls me Mist...which sounds weird to me , but whatever floats your boat. Believe it or not some people actually call me Pipp or Pippy.

Maybe they're talking about Myst, the video game. Ask them if they ever played Riven.

No problem, except that for me, it'd probably be more like C-Ron...

Now, now, where is the time-out corner for old folks?

Oh wait, that will be the rocking chair... :p
Watch yourself, Rohith.

The rocking chair is seated right next to your crib.

I wish I could go by the name Jess. I do with some people, but I dont with most people over guilty feelings for lying about my name : p Its a nice name, though. I think it fits me.

My birth name, I dont like it at all : p And the shorthand version, ugh, its much worse. I hate it : p I have a one syllable ugly name that I dont like, and never have : p

My last name is just the same, btw : p A one syllable bleh kinda name too : p My entire name is just lame : p

My eldest son is called Aaron, when we named him it was an unusual name but it quickly became very popular (the same thing happened with my son Jordan) I've never heard of a girl being called Aaron (lots of female Jordan's these days) though, we pronounce it Aron and most other people do too but just occasionally someone will pronounce it "Aeron".
I think people must be confusing Aaron with Erin :p

Yep, but most of them who think that Aaron is 'A girl's name' have never heard of Erin. It's weird I know, but...true.

Today I learnt that there are people in America who share their name with an Indian soap!

Well that escalated quickly! :O

Random question - which is scarier - a spooky doll standing in the crib staring at you or a spooky doll sitting on a rocking chair and staring at you?

There's probably already a thread for this, but if I post there someone will holler about zombies. (Though this IS October, zombies are in the forecast...)

This thread is about your name. Do people always shorten it? Do you like that, or would you rather be addressed by your real name? Did you have a nickname growing up? Do you still have one? Do you like it or hate it? Is your name common or rare, and how do you feel about that?

Questions...questions that need answering! <- It's a Gandalf quote.

My name is Reece. No, people don't shorten my name. Actually, I've found that if you already have a short name, then people tend to lengthen it when creating pet names for you.

It used to bother me, but 2+ decades of it have helped me either get over it or just become accustomed to the fact...

Any possible thing you can think of involving the candy, yes... Reese's, Reese's Peices, Reese's Cups, Peanut Butter Cups, Reesies, Reecer, and the list goes on and on.

I've answered multiple questions with the above sentences. My name is fairly rare, but I have met about a half dozen other Reeces here in Oklahoma.

As for my feelings, I'm good with it. It's the one God/my parents gave me, and depending on origin/translation means either 'enthusiasm' or 'one who loves life and people'... Good name, I think.

I'm guessing... YOU'RE the spooky doll.

So yes. Either way, I am scared.

I won't go down without a fight, though.

Don't make me drag you on this, Roh!!! Because I SO will. :D

Hey now, I never said that I was the doll. And even if I were a doll, have you noticed that all the "possessed" dolls in horror films are females? I guess that only leaves you as the spooky doll, Kim. ;)

Reese's Cups are one of the best treats. I'd own that nickname with pride, haha
