Benefits of Crying

* Stress relief.
Yes, crying actually helps us to relieve stress. According to psychological counselor Li Jin with the Yang Guang Hua Ren Psychological Service, crying can help people deal with many different kinds of stress, “pressure, frustration, sorrow or anger — any negative emotions.”

*Preventing the occurrence of depression.
Most people get depressed because their emotions could not be expressed at the right time and got suppressed inside their minds. Crying prevents the suppression of a person’s emotions and is one of the healthiest ways to come out of them. Crying also improves the state of people who are already depressed and make them feel better

*Lifts your mood.
If your mood is low due to physical or emotional pain, crying stimulates the release of endorphins. These are hormones which help to elevate mood and also act as pain killers. Due to the release of these hormones people usually feel better after crying.

*Relationships.
Believe it or not, crying might actually improve your relationship with someone, as long as you cry in front of them. Dr. Oren Hassan of the Tel Aviv University has performed a study about crying in which he concluded that crying allows you to be vulnerable in front of others, and allows them to take care of you, which benefits both the crier and the watcher by bonding them emotionally.

*Toxin removal.
Did you know that all tears are not the same? Several studies have shown that tears brought about by stress are different biologically from tears brought about by working with onions. Also, tears that are brought about by stressful situations contain some toxins that are within the body, which means those tears are helping the body to get rid of those toxins. No, no one wants to cry over a bad situation, but at least the tears are helping the body by shedding toxins.

*Lubrication.
This one should be rather obvious. Tears help to lubricate the eyes, keeping the eyes functioning better by not allowing them to dry out.

*Irritant remover.
All those tears not only lubricate the eyes, but they also help to remove any kinds of irritants in the eyes, such as grit or dirt or sand or smoke or whatever. If you need to clean your eyes, try a good cry.

*Blood pressure.
No, crying in and of itself doesn’t necessarily lower your blood pressure, but holding back those tears can build up stress, which actually heightens blood pressure. So don’t act like a tough guy who never allows himself to cry, because you’re only hurting yourself.

*Bad hormones.
Not only does crying help in a round-about way with blood pressure, but it also helps with other cardiovascular problems, and also with potential problems with the gastrointestinal systems, bones, muscles and more. How is this? Tears shed bad hormones from the body, hormones that could potentially affect all these different parts of the body in negative ways.

*Nose cleaner.
You read that correctly. Tears actually help to keep the insides of the nose clean of bacteria and irritants. How is this possible? Quite simply. The tear ducts actually run down and connect to the inside of your nose, and whenever you shed some tears, some of those tears are sent down into your nose. Not only are you crying on the outside, but you’re also literally crying on the inside. At least according to Dr. Judith Orloff.

*Infections.
Tears contain a chemical known as lysozyme, a natural anti-bacterial that works to keep infections from happening in one’s eyes.

*Helps in relaxation.
Once a person stops crying, the body shifts from a high arousal state to state of relaxation. Heart rate and breathing slows down, sweating decreases and person feels more relaxed. The state of relaxation lasts for a longer duration than the moments spent in crying.

Soooo guys, would you still not want to cry just for masculine reasons and ignore those benefits???
Girls do love to see a man crying just not the minor pains...that is sooo gay! :D:D:D
I guess moderate and extreme pains are ok :D

When he realizes that sometimes no matter how hard he fights hardest on behalf of righteousness and righteous men, they fall to the most contemptible worms imaginable. Hardest I've ever cried in front of others.

Alright. Points taken.

So you guys who said you cried all the time...how often do you cry?

I read a statistic that said men cry about 50 times a year, which is once a week!!!

I must be a heartless brick wall, I cry about once a decade.

I really didn't believe that statistic at all when I read it, but from some of the responses here I'm starting to.

This is just insulting. Men are no less human than women.

How about an option in the poll for anytime they need to cry?
I agree. I don't think its healthy for anyone to keep it all bottled up.

I myself am not a cryer, if thats even a word. It annoys me when other people cry for really no reason, or over something trivial. I dont like when men cry either, it bothers me. There supposed to be the ones that have it together, and not all emotional, if a man getx upset over something i would that would make me serioulsy question weather or not he could make rational decisions.

I think the best place for a man to weep is before God in prayer.
I agree...No matter the gender or age, we can always come to God in prayer, sometimes with tears in our eyes, some with no words spoken just communing with God in silence.

No where in my reply did i say women cant cry. Nor did i imply it either.
absolutely you did, you said men are suppose to be the ones who "have it together" (implying others ie women do not) and then followed it with and not emotional (implying women are) I have now forgotten what the rest of the post said but there is a start.
edit....just read it, you then went on to say that emotional men would make you doubt if they could make rational decisions, after implying that women do not "have it together" and are emotional if follows with this statement that you doubt their ability to make rational decisions.
re edit. I never meant you said women couldn't cry I was complaining about the implication that they couldn't make a rational decision.

Wow leelee slow your roll, your gonna hurt yourself. You twisted my words so much at this point im not even sure you know what your talking about.

Ive seen your posts and it looks like you like arguing, however my opinion on this matter im not open for arguing or discussing. So if you believe thats what i was implying then so be it, i really dont have any desire to correct you.

That will be all

I didn't twist your words at all. I quoted them and explained what the implication is (or what it seemed to be) I don't like arguing actually but I don't like it when people provide inaccurate information and I didn't like your post because of what it implied and in general I disagreed cuz I don't have a problem with anyone crying.

Beside which this post is entirely separate but what I say in any other thread is irrelevant.

Call me rural and old-fashioned, but it makes a guy look wimpy and girly when he cries over ridiculous stuff.

The only time I ever cried was when "Baywatch" was cancelled. In fact, just thinking about that fateful day makes me teary-eyed right now. I need a shoulder to cry on, but apparently not Holly's, because she has probably now lost all respect for me (not for the "Baywatch" part, but for the "tears" part).
