So does that mean men should cry in the middle of girly movies?
----

YES, I don't call it a 'girly' movie, but E.T. came to theatres when I was 12 years old and I cried when the flower wilted, signaling E.T died. That was my first crying experience as a kid . As an adulthood I can't remember, but I am sure I cried in college a few times, like my freshman year, when a girl I liked went n to the homecoming dance with my roommate :( I've cried tears in movies and over my sister's decisions in life one time that would have (potentially) changed her life dramatically.

Not just Jesus wept, but many in bible cried , like David who tore his clothes in 'sackcloth and ashes,' with sins of Bathsheba and the consequences of that sin, which was David's child (of Bathsheba roof sex incident in II Kings) dying right after being born .

So, crying can be good , a lot of times because God hears us (and answers us , in His timing) when we CRY out to Him. :)

Thats one pole I cant take, because I feel that men should cry when it is needed. Crying helps just like laughing helps. But when a man is full of pride and ego, crying will seem like a big time obsticle. <<< im guilty of just that in my past.

I used to feel that A REAL MAN_______..... today, its not about that. The world tells me that a real man should do this and or that. Where as God tells me that a Biblical Man can do so much more.

I think it's okay for men to cry about all of those things of the poll (to different degrees) except minor injuries. The belief that men shouldn't cry is damaging, stupid and not true.

Other than never and minor pain I believe it is ok for men to cry for all the other opinions. Men and women are both emotional beings but society has made it hard for men to be as open as women are about emotions. I say bring on the tears it is not a sign of weakness but a sign one has been strong for way too long.

P.S I could not vote as it was not multiple choice.

abelsdaddy, welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately the thread you chose to reply to is very old.

But since it was already dredged up... time for a related song.

A man should cry when he cries.. no rule to it, just some people are more sensitive then others.. just as long as crying isn't his identity or all he does / or is about, its cool.... being able to express your emotions and feelings is important.

Since this thread has been zombified...

It's okay for a man to cry when the Holy Spirit convicts him of his sin. (yeah, it's a juke.)

Whenever he feels like it. I watched something not too long ago featuring an opera song. Some of the men were crying- moved by the beauty of the song and the voice. It was heartening.

One theory why women live longer than men is that men don't cry enough- keeping in their emotions and putting strain on their hearts. So, crying is good for your soul and body.

Like Kim said, all of those years ago, men should be allowed to cry whenever (save to manipulate). Women also shouldn't cry to manipulate. That kind of behaviour is deplorable.

Does anyone remember an old Howie Mandell act where he says in this little baby voice...

Every time my mommy puts me on the potty I cry..
So my mommy asked, "How come you always cry when I put you on the potty?"
I cry because... ♫ It's my potty and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to... cry if I want to... ♫

Im actually somewhat annoyed by these kind of conversations : p I mean just slightly, not actually angry or whatever : p

But like, if a man has to cry then he should just do it. Doing it as a public display is wrong, its wrong for anyone to do. But like, there should not be any rules on natural emotional reactions, well..... at least not rules such as "dont have them".

Humans have feelings and react on them, gender has absolutely nothing to do with this : p I dont understand why these kind of things exist, ideas such as men not being allowed to cry I mean : p
