On second thought, speechless admiration. Speechless admiration is a good thing.

I prefer to be called by my name, or in this context, my nickname. Is that an option?

I could tolerate "attractive", "handsome" or "good looking" but I would have to conclude that the speaker was either delusional or had an agenda. Unless it was my Mother! :)

Seriously this may sound crazy, but I prefer to be called my name and if you want to say something like Hey my beautiful Jeni. Then great!!! I think it goes back to my ex-husband never said my name; it was always babe. And I was like...Hello I have a name! As to strangers saying something I have heard it all and it just goes over my head. Genuine compliments are the best!

I don't know, how would you compliment eyes? That's where I usually look first when I meet somebody, in the eyes. The poet was right when he called the eyes the windows of the soul, you can tell a lot about somebody by his eyes. And I have no idea how I would compliment somebody like that.

The only opinion that matters in this regard is that of your boyfriend. You are pretty though.

Well see, that's the problem. I seem to have a fairly bottom-line mentality. I don't look for whether the eyes are pretty, I look for the emotions the eyes express. What the person feels most often leaves permanent marks, and is the best way of forming a first impression.

Mind you, that's only for people I don't know. If it's someone I know I glance first at the hands. What the person is carrying indicates what the person is doing. I don't consciously decide "Okay if it's a new person I look at the eyes, but if it's someone I know I look at the hands." It's just something I do.

To the OP though - I have no idea what I would prefer a lady call me. They don't call me anything. But if a lady ever called me "hott" I would be seriously concerned about her eyesight, her sanity or both.

Yeah, Lynx! I don't know why they'd call me hot either...

I don't like being called hot. Beautiful is a much more genuine feeling compliment in my opinion.

I don't have a problem being called "hot" as long as it isn't directly to my face, or if it were coming from my husband. It's one thing if I overhear a guy talking to his friend and referring to me as "hot", but there's something predatory and disrespectful (to me, at least) about a guy coming up to me and saying "You're hot."

I respond only to sexbomb and stud-licious.

Seriously though: The adjective is less important than the approach as far as how I respond.

Hmmmmm.....

Looking me in the eyes... Not roaming over my face or my body.. And saying

"you look lovely" is the best compliment I've ever heard.. The other adjectives are too commonly used...

That or being completely speechless in front of me and can't form any words... That's the best one of all...

Never had that reaction before... But hey. Oh wells..

Personally it depends who it is for me, when I'm in a relationship with someone, they can call me sweetheart, sweetie, hon...you get the idea. I have an "office husband", he calls me "Boo". All my other male friends just call me by my name.
