I had hesitated to post in response to all of these newer posts, especially given how well my last request was received. It is really saddening to see how devolving a thread can become. Several here have asked to please contain their silliness to more appropriate threads, but it doesn't feel like you respect any of the people that have made that request. Now this thread has devolved to catcalls about firefighters and people's appearances. We are supposed to be above that. And while most of us can take a joke, it makes it no more appropriate if it is one.

As I have said before, we are all happy for everyone who has found coupledom and are relishing in joy. We wish nothing but the best for all. I wish instead of trying to just be funny, you would offer your experiences so we can learn from what you've been through.

hoss, I am sorry for helping derail this thread, but the good thing about threads is they can ALWAYS get put back on track!! :) As far as people flirting with me in the past goes, sometimes I don't mind it, unless it becomes of a sexual nature, then it just makes me uncomfortable and I usually nip it in the bud by telling the guy that I am happy being single, and no, flirting with me will NOT help him..lol :)

Most guys eventually get the hint and go elsewhere, but there are always the insecure few who want to know why I don't want to be with them. It's like if you use this stupid and cheesy pickup line on me, then how many other girls have you used it on?

I am sorry about flirting in the flirt thread. First hand experiences were offered and I did not intend to cause distress.

So I have a slew of questions.

Are you able to realize when you are being flirted with? What makes a good flirt to you - is it just added attention or maybe a well placed compliment? Do you find it more difficult to distinguish when someone is trying to flirt with you online due to the lack of nonverbal cues? How do you handle unwanted flirting? What has been your worst experience with flirting?
Well in the interest of getting this thread back on track (and because I appreciate these kind of thinking threads over fluffy stuff).

By the time I think that someone might be flirting with me, they've probably crossed a line and need to get lost. I am that oblivious and I'm so used to it not happening that it is just weird when it does. I much prefer someone showing genuine interest to flirting. Honest compliments and questions are fine, so is teasing once I know someone well enough. I guess for me the most important aspect of the getting to know you type of stuff is that a person makes me feel like there is something really interesting or special about me, not just like they're trying to fill the role of person to act romantic with in their lives.

As far as distinguishing online flirting from real life flirting, I'm incredibly crappy at both. Just be blunt and direct (but not too creepy: if you've already named our first 3 future children that is not something you should tell me in the first conversation you have with me. Hi, you seem interesting and I'd like to talk to you is enough) and you'll save us both a lot of time. Be creepy or overly touchy feely and the mocking sarcasm comes out to point out that you are being a stupid idiot and I can't take you seriously. Me, rude and intimidating? Only when I need to make creepers get lost or pop someone's overinflated ego. If I know you and think reasonably well of you I'm usually pretty nice.

Inquiring Blond minds want to know - what did you delete? Was it a really good flirt? Or was it something that might get you banned?
it was mostly a post about how my sweetie and I got together, despite my cluelessness, etc.

I more or less reasoned to this in the other flirt thread...though I'm glad I came in and saw the identify their reference, because that gif was funny.

With the number of complaints we've gotten on this post I would normally remove it, but in this case I'm going to leave it for the purpose of making a point. If one of the brothers here had posted a pic of a couple of gorgeous ladies and then several other brothers made posts that were generally objectifying I can guarantee that you ladies would be all over them for being chauvinist pigs. Double standard much?

Can't help you out on this thread, because me and flirting don't see eye to eye or maybe I just don't fit in its mode.
