Your type of thinking is the same as mine. scientists look at outer space and are in awe at it's awesomeness and I myself am fascinated by outer space it is simply an astonishing place but when I see it as I look up to the night sky the only thing I see is God. I see the sky I look around me at the earth at the trees at the flowers ect. and I see the proof of God
Yep, the universe does help us a lot in knowing more about the power of our God. :)

I don't believe we should teach them to hinder thought, or have a one track mind,
my desire is that they know Jesus intimately as I have come to know Him.
That may well be your "desire"
but do you give vulnerable young minds a balanced overview - or do you present only your own conclusions as inarguable "truth" ?

Have you ever said to them
" We believe absolutely in Jesus etc etc but, other equally intelligent, educated, sincere and moral people are atheists, Muslims, Buddhists and so on" ?
Do you ensure that they are aware of the basics of those other belief systems ?

If not, I respectfully suggest that you are indeed "hindering thought" and cultivating a "one track mind".

My children will most certainly taught the teachings of Jesus and to seek God with all their heart, soul, strength and mind. And that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and Life. They will also be taught other peoples beliefs and taught to respect them even if they don't agree with them. As it is inevitable that they will see people with differing beliefs and lifestyles which would understably lead to questions.
My boy is 2 1/2 and already loves to pray, so very precious. But what they choose when they come of age, is their choice.

A very good question. Yes I am concerned.
Even more so with addictive violent video games than with TV.
All three - religious brainwashing, TV and violent gaming - have the potential for psychological damage.

A responsible parent will monitor and moderate all three.

All understandable. I would throw sexualization into that mix too personally.

Christians are commanded by Jesus to train up their children in God's ways. If we don't teach our children His ways, the world will teach them their bull. It's difficult enough as is. No need to be a crap parent in all of this.

Hahaaa..ahh yeah, I would rather be your enemy than not teach my children to seek the One who dearly loves them.

I have no doubt he is precious.
And brainwashed.
You believe there is no God, evolution is true and that this life is all we have. Who's the one being brainwashed here?

The kid 'loves' to please its parent !
It has been taught to "pray" - which it does not understand - but it knows it pleases dad if it goes through the motions.
Pavlov's dog, really.
No major problems there - as long as it is subsequently taught that there are other credible belief systems and that dad could be wrong.

WORDS TO LIVE BY from a noted sage of our era.

"Foster a child's imagination so they may never lose their child-like wonder of the world."

I thought you didn't have anything else to say?
Plus I thought I already covered the latter part of your statement?

With the universe literally having billions upon bullions of galaxies which in turns have billions of stars, you could argue that statistically life might also be on other planets and in different forms. If you think that this is possible, or even likely, how does Christian doctrine apply there.
How do you know the universe is really that big? NASA takes pictures?

Um. I wrote that quote.
I know. I pinched it off your Profile.

Good to know that you endorse the concept that children should be exposed to the broad spectrum of human thought and beliefs.
